School me on Doorbell / Ring Cameras

Just now feeling the need to get some sort of exterior camera at my house after a couple incidents in the neighborhood. I am looking for a fairly simple, easy to install solution for the front door, but also possibly the side of the house at the garage and in the back.
Any help / advice would be much appreciated.

Can only speak for the Ring doorbell. It's 2 wires, we used the wires from the existing doorbell. There is minimal configuration before installation. Connecting to wifi, creating Ring account. It's nice to see when someone is at the door, you can also hear them and talk to them.
my problem has always been, it picks up motion like a big truck on the street. I believe it's around $5 a month for recording.

This.
Love our Ring Pro.

You can draw the area you want it to detect motion. I had this problem with people walking on our sidewalk and fixed it with the custom motion area.

If you have floodlights in those locations, it's very easy to swap with a Ring camera motion floodlight.
If you don't have wires, the wireless camera is good as well. I have one overlooking my pool where there is no wiring. Batteries last a few months, and I simply recharge overnight and good to go the next morning.

I've got Ring devices around my entire house. Very easy setup and install. I recommend the doorbell and the flood light cam for your driveway.

Remember to set them to "disarmed" when you cut the grass if you don't want 47 motion detected notifications.
We have Blink. Won one as a Christmas game gift. Installed it on the front door and bought the $30 annual membership. Liked it so much we bought one for the back door and just use that with internal storage (sd card). When the annual membership runs out we will be reverting the front door one to internal storage as well.
Can't complain. They connect to the standard chime in our house. They work well.

I use UniFi protect. I like the no monthly fees & private storage aspect. They are a hardware company. So I trust their products and upgrades. I have a five camera setup incl doorbell.
I like to tinker with IT stuff and computers so that pushed me towards them as well.

Between two houses I have 8 Ring cameras and several Wyze products currently in use. Ring products are easy to install and setup through their apps but, like any WiFi device, reception is a huge part in how satisfied you'll be with the device. In my main house I have a very powerful, centrally located modem/router so signal strength is no a problem throughout the property, at the other one it's just the standard Xfinity modem/router on a cabinet so one or two cameras always have signal issues. With doorbell cameras, you need to make sure the wired transformer has about 20VA or better. I only have one battery-powered Ring spot camera, I run two battery packs in it so during the warm season I hardly have to charge them but in the winter the batteries do not last anywhere near as long obviously. I will eventually swap it out for a wired unit. The Wyze cameras are fine too, they are simpler to setup and really the only thing you are paying more for are the optional features the Ring app has and the depth of products available.

I had several Ring products but got tired of paying the annual fees. Switched to Eufy w no fee and have no complaints.

I have ring in San Antonio and Eufy in Gonzales. Liking the Eufy better at this point. I have their doorbell and two solar powered cameras, the cameras sync to their home base, which has lots of storage and can be hidden. The doorbell needs charged about every 3-4 months and the solar powered cameras (solocam S220) are exactly at 95-96% three months down the road from install. I like them so much I ordered a 330 which is 4k to replace my sunset cam

Those Eufy's have a super clear resolution.

Had Ring devices and switched a few years ago. Look up Wyze cameras, doorbell cams, etc for simple and very affordable devices.

I like the ring family of products but have not tried out the others. A few comments to some of the points others made about ring.
If you do have to go the battery powered route, I recommend 1 extra battery that you can keep charged. When the battery gets low, you can quickly swap it out and recharge the low battery until the next one gets low.
If you do not have a strong signal throughout the house, the do sell ring doorbells that can act as a signal booster. I have this for 2 floodlights.
As others said, if you already have floodlights & doorbells in place, it is a very simple switch. If not, you can easily go with the wireless versions and those are easily installed as well.
Regardless of which route you go; I have noticed that will all routinely offer package discounts and have sales. In other words, don't pay full price. You can monitor from now until you pull the trigger, but Thanksgiving week & prime day week (in July) typically have the best deals.

I just joined the Ring family for Prime Day. I got the Doorbell Plus and 2 Floodlight Cam Plus. I already had wiring in place. Extremely happy with my purchase considering the large discounts for Prime Day.

Very happy with Ring cameras. Have a doorbell camera that's hardwired and 2 exterior cameras that have their own solar charging panels. Had to add wifi extenders but they all work flawlessly

We have a Nest, it works great. No issues since install. I do the yearly nest aware or something like that through Costco. Keeps a certain amount of footage in the cloud. Can set to recognize faces and such. Easy to install. Comes through on the nest home hub thing (we got this free from some promo) and my phone.

I use battery powered ring doorbells (i have 2). my chime transformer was not compatible with the wired ring doorbells for some reason. i just disabled it and bought one extra battery to go with the two doorbells so i can swap as needed. they last a few months on a charge however, and the swap takes seconds. overall very pleased. i mainly went with ring bc i already had the ring security system.
i have some wyze cams inside my house and they are fine for cheapo cams. the app experience is not as solid as ring for me, but it is more than serviceable.
