Posted by LChama on 1/5/22 at 12:35 pm

Bought one at lowes in November and the clothes dont even gwt all the way wet. Super noisy. Takes forever. They wont take it back so I am trying to prevent anyone else from buying that crap

Probably help to mention models for a PSA. My whirlpool HE washer seems to work just fine. Bought em in 2018.

I agree WHIRLPOOL HE washer sucks. One of worst purchases of my life.
It would go through wash cycle but wouldn’t spin 75% of time.I would wring clothes out by hand and water would be brown.Clothes obviously weren’t clean.

That's the crappy thing with HE washers, no matter the tubsize they only fill with so much water. Think some models will let you option for extra water. I've got old Maytag washer and dryer, no fancy wash cycles and I can take them apart to fix either one in minutes with easily available parts. One of my clients has an LG direct drive washer that started throwing an error code, turned out to be a $20 hall-effect sensor used for "load sensing".
All HE washers suck. The aspirational goal of the technology is to clean clothes without using water or soap. It's ok for the western dessert but ridiculous here. Get the most stripped down Speed Queen you can buy. The secret to its success is that it uses water, detergent and agitation to clean clothes. Meaning, it actually works.
Same experience. We had a whirlpool cabrio that would barely get them wet, but the most aggravating thing it did is called whiting your clothes. All dark clothes would be left with white streaks and you had to wash three to four times without detergent. Next one we bought, has a deep water wash. It is worthless. Some of the clothes come out half wet and half dry. Speed Queen will be next purchase.

Same.
ETA: I do find it annoying that occasionally, after I’ve already loaded and programmed the cycle, I get a message saying the washer needs to run through a cleaning cycle, and I am expected to remove the clothes for that. Ugh. Last time I was able to get out of it somehow.

I’ve got an older Kenmore HE and it’s just okay. I had to stop using detergent pods with it because every once in a while, a big article like a blanket would come out of the wash with the pod smeared on it because there wasn’t enough water and agitation to dissolve the pod.
I end up using the Bulky setting and Heavy wash cycle if I’ve got a bigger load or something with stains. I probably end up using more water in the long run!

Long term your HE washers will fill your drain up with lint because not enough water is used to flush the junk to the city system. I had my washer drain cleaned yesterday and it was full of lint and other stuff, worst clog in 25 years.
I had Maytag Bravos for about 6 years, UL codes, small leaks, and not washing well. I now have a Magtag commercial which is a toy compared to the old style washing machines but it uses water and cleans my cloths.
