My Echo had a clutch go out and I am waiting on parts to repair. My neighbor has an Ego 56 volt he let me use. I like the no gas and ready to go to work feature plus the speedfeed is very nice. But it does take some getting use to.. It is very light (too light) and when it hits some roots or tough grass while edging the damn thing wants to dance. My edging looks like a blind man did the job. Didn't help that he had some Ryobi cheap arse line that I went through quickly. Everybody thinks less weight is better.. You are less worn out.. But with trying to control the dancing I was more worn out than with my Echo. But like I said it might take some getting use to and some better line..

I can’t use my to edge worth a shite either. I blame the automatic line feeding. It’ll sling out some string unexpectedly and the string then digs in and fricks up the grass.

I hate that part of the EGO string trimmer.

Oh. And also, I broke the carbon fiber shaft about a month after I bought it. I had it standing up leaning against some shelves in my storage, with the head facing up. The trimmer got knocked over and the head hit the ground. Sheared the shaft right where it connects to the head. Piece of shite. I had to unclamp it, break out the broken piece. Then clamp the head back on the shaft. Lost a few inches of length and I’m sure it’s not going to last forever like that.

Anyway, yea. I like the battery powered portion of it. But the damn thing has its quirks and weaknesses for sure.

I have an Echo and an EGO, same experience. Echo is definitely more powerful. Usually grab it instead of the Ego. Ego blower the shite though. I use it indoors sometime to sweep.

I switched to using a bladed edger for edging as opposed to the string trimmer. Works a lot better and looks better too. I still use the string trimmer to edge around the landscape beds and posts etc.

I've never had an issue with the weedeater bouncing but I'm also not weedeating a pasture...

I bought the blade edger from ego and I fill my ego weed eater with the heaviest line it’ll take. I love that setup. If I ever decide to go battery on the mower, my shed might finally stop smelling like gasoline

I borrowed my dad's 58V Echo trimmer, works great except for edging. Even with brand new Echo Black Diamond string it doesn't edge well. Battery life was ok, just enough to get the front yard done and most of the backyard. Won't be swapping out my Stihl trimmers anytime soon.

I got the edger for like $30 when Home Depot was clearing them out. Still grab my echo trimmer for edging though. It's just faster and my ego battery is wearing down.

My Greenworks 40V trimmer weighs more than the Echo it replaced.

I bought the Ego with Line IQ about a month ago and there is definitely a learning curve. I will have to get the edger because too much line comes out. I wish there was an even slower speed option.

I have a Makita 18V- love it. It is light but I guess I am used to it and really like that it is not making me deaf like my old Husqvarna. My kids can use it easily too. :)

Had the DeWalt 20V trimmer 3+ yrs and loved it... it was quite and able to do the whole yard (1/2 acre) on 5ah battery. Nice being able to use airpods and not smell like gas.

3 wks ago the motor head started smoking and it crapped out. Replaced it with a Stihl RS56l. Cutting swath feels twice as wide, doesn't bog down and is much better as an edger.

No real complains about the DeWalt but I prefer the Stihl

That's how I got my Black&Decker. Battery life isn't great especially when using the power cut function, but it works pretty well for a suburban house yard.

Been thinking about upgrading to a ryobi. Bigger cutting deck, plus better blade amd string head options.

My Kobalt 80v is great and only dances when I'm screwing up. Like any of them it takes practice, the first time of the season I'm sloppier but get it back pretty quickly. I hate auto feed, I use one that I just cut it to length and then replace when it gets short. I've wasted so many feet of string when the auto feeds keep cranking it out when I don't want. Maybe they're better than they used to be.

I have the Milwaukee Fuel

It's not as strong as my old Shindaiwa T270's or the old Echo but it's powerful enough. It's lightweight as well but that never seems to be an issue.

I just bought the Ego with the Line IQ head to give it a try. I have a 4-stroke Honda that I've been using but that thing is heavy. I'm trying to give my back a break so weekly I'll use the Ego for 3 weeks and occasionally use the Honda to trim around the ditch when necessary.

i have the ego with line iq and i love the trimmer, hate the damn line iq. it is either not letting any out or way too much where it is just cutting it off or wrapping around. pisses me the frick off bad. very very high frustration with it.
