I’ve about had it with my current gas powered weed-eater. My shed is a graveyard of old echo, Stihl, and huskvarna trimmers and blowers that don’t work any more that “I can fix that one day”. F that mess, clearing house.

Let me know what’s the best ecosystem for battery powered blowers, trimmers, and edgers. I’m not beholden to any brand, just want it to work. I need a trimmer first of all but want to be able to expand once these others crap out. Ego, green works, Ryobi, other??

Let me know.

How does one tear those up? Any one of them would last 20+ years if cared for...

I can say I’ve never changed the oil in them, ha

I beat the shite out of mine as far as taking care of abuse, bayousides, pond banks, overgrown shite. I’ve never had good luck with blowers. Trimmers I probably get 10-15 years. I’ve changed multiple carbs, shite, I have one that ran without a muffler and exhaust manifold for years because it fell and cracked off. But as they age they leak everywhere and make a mess.

All that being said, I now keep my house and neighborhood lot trim and tidy (I’ve only recently moved to a neighborhood with a nice yard) and would use whatever working gas stuff left to deal with my pond and back acres. That’s why I’m fine with the battery powered stuff to keep babied in my garage.

If that's all you want out of your battery arsenal, you should be fine with two batteries at 4Ah from EGO, Greenworks, or Ryobi (in that order, IMO)

One thing to remember is that all of these brands offer both a Multi-Head Tool System and also offer most of the same tools as an individual tool. It helps save space and you should still have solid performance. I got the POWERLOAD EGO carbon string trimmer because I enjoy not having to load my own spool and it automatically releases string when mowing so you don't have to stop what you're doing to great it correct. I also enjoy having a lighter string trimmer.

Ryobi is much more budget friendly if you stick with their 18V kit, but I can't imagine having that little power unless you're working with a really small yard and don't worry about your tools as much. They do offer a 40V kit that's way more expensive but will do the job just as well a the other two brands mentioned.

Greenworks will usually have a sale before summer that is really affordable if you're looking to upgrade your tools. I think they get more of a discount on the pushmowers rather than the rest of the tools. The pushmowers are all steel decks if I'm not mistaken. Great thing about them is that they all run 60V tools so you will have no issue with performance.

EGO is my favorite. I have them for my pushmower, carbon fiber string trimmer (with POWERLAD), and blower. I love not having to feel the spool because the POWERLOAD does the job for me. It also releases more string as needed. Battery life is fairly strong compared to most battery powered tools.

I've been finally using the Ego 18" that was on sale last year for feeding the wood stove some post oak. Holy smokes that thing has some torque.

Running the Dewalt 20v trimmer and blower. Got them since I already had the dewalt 20V system and all I can advertise on them is they are adequate. If ego puts their trimmer blower on sale again, I'll probably upgrade.

I don't miss fuel oil mix yard equipment at all, especially for how much I need it.

I'm with you, I'm tempted to switch.

The only 2 stroke piece of equipment I own is the weed eater. Tired of storing gas for it.

My dad has some 40v ryobi stuff so I'll probably end up with that so I can steal his tools.

Sounds like you're considering several tools. Go with one brand so the batteries work in all tools.
Greenworks is good and price is good - especially on sale weekends which is nearly any holiday. Greenworks
I have mower, blower, trimmer, and chainsaw all in 60V and am pleased. Don't go less than 60V (or the 56V Ego has)

We just made the switch from gas to battery with the 40v Ryobi. We already had all the trimmer attachments for Ryobi so we stayed with them. So far so good with no issues. Definitely recommend getting multiple batteries if you are going to be doing a lot with it. Ive used it for 30 mins and still had some life left.

Damn baw. I got one Echo trimmer that's going on 20 years old. It cranks on the 2nd or 3rd pull.

I refuse to be forced to buy that electric shite. I continuously buy spare parts for all my hand held gas stuff.

The greenies can suck my nuts.

I’ve had 2 husqvarna gas. edgers and both crapoed out after 2 years with the exact same problem. Had to constantly bump the throttle or it would die. Tried cleaning and changing spark plug to no avail. Wasn’t worth it to pay to get it fixed at that point. Use a Ryobi battery trimmer and blower and they’re great for what I need to do.

I have an echo pas 266 that crapped after 17 years. So I’m invested in the attachment pretty good. I ordered a new electric DPAS 2600. Hopefully it comes in this week.i’ll report back later in the week.

I have Milwaukee stuff. This is the setup I have right now + the blower. Easy storage as well.

NOthing at all against Eco or any other brand out there and best friend is all in on Makita and love it. I bought a Kobalt (Lowes) battery trimmer a couple years ago as my first battery powered yard tool - it's been amazing and has the same cutting power as the gas powered unit it replaced but a LOT easier to take care of.
I plan to replace my aging push mower with the Kobalt edition that uses the same batteries this spring.
