I have one guarding the feeder. Sitting perched up on top. The second feeder is near a bottle brush and a second psycho is sitting in that one. They are having a Mexican stand off and it’s quite entertaining

Nice, just saw our bottlebrush plant had finally rebounded enough from freezes to have a single bloom.

I sit on the ground every evening & watch them, seems like they are more skittish when I’m in a chair
Had 2 fighting & circling each other almost bump into me yesterday

Had to be at least 30 around my feeders this morning

Bought and installed my first hummingbird feeder yesterday.

How long does it normally take for the birds to see the feeder and start hanging out there?

Should be fairly quickly if there are any in the area.

I'm in Metairie. Not sure when they reach this area.

I don't have the best setup as I have a townhouse, but I do have flower baskets out all summer on my deck. Lack of shade is a problem however. I usually have a female that nests nearby and stays all summer, and her fledglings.

The last week or so things have been ramping up with migrating birds, and there have been secret wars going on at my patio. Marietta, GA.

I have them all year long in S. Louisiana but I put food out all year as well.

I am still getting swarmed by hummers and I have to refill two feeders a day now. It is neat to watch them come out of the woods prior to daylight. They play nice for a little while where each can get a drink or two, but then they are at war. My wife says she is making a half gallon of food a day.

But this may end next week. Several weather forecasters are forecasting a cool front coming next Wednesday or Thursday. The low's may be in the mid to low 60's instead of the mid to high 70's.

A sure sign that a cool front is coming is the migrating hummers. They have been swarming my feeders. There must be at least 20 at two of the feeders.

I had to put out a fifth feeder out late yesterday to keep them all fed. They like this feeder from Walmart that is made in Rogers, AR. It has eight ports for them to eat from.

Lowest numbers of any Labor Day I can remember. The only thing that makes any sense is, the weather has been too stable for a good push here.

just a few in Hammond. I was out of town the last 2 weeks august so maybe I missed them. As usual I have one dickhead guardian LOL

we were in Colorado those two weeks and I’ve never seen so many hummers in my life they were like mosquitoes

I don’t like those because I had one get stuck in the perch
Luckily we were outside & I was able to push him back up with a fly swatter

I like these, they have a perch & the yellow tips are cheap to swap out when they get dirty, I put fresh ones on & soak the dirty ones in vinegar water
