Need some help. I seeded the front lawn with centipede 3 years ago. At times it looks good, but I’ve got areas that I can not get clover out of.

My front lawn gets a lot of morning and mid-day sun if that helps anything.

What’s out there that will reduce the clover so my centipede will take over the rest?

Wait for a few more weeks and it will die

Any lawn treatment with 2-4-D will knock it out.

I like to use Ortho Weed B Gon (Yellow) on St. Aug.

2,4d will knock it out.

Unfortunately centipede is very slow to fill in so if it’s large areas it may be barren and subject to more weed growth.

Fertilize with nitrogen first before anything else. Will make it easy to get rid of.

Don't use a lot of nitrogen on your centipede.
It may be a little work but spot spraying it may be the best.

This.

OP - I’d personally use Weed Free Zone (already mentioned), Atrazine, or mixture of the two (winter weed cocktail), or MSM Turf - add a surfactant (spreader sticker) to whatever herbicide you choose.

clover is good for your soils and extremely beneficial to honeybees. Just mow over it and it will be gone as soon as we hit 90 degs

I’ve always found clover to be an indicator of high moisture. Make sure your drainage is good

I find that by the time I buy some spray and it takes effect, the clover would have died any way.

Reading this thread having actually spread clover seeds (along with grass seeds) in areas I’m trying to improve from rocky slope to grassy slope.
