I’ve been able to eradicate most weeds in my yard but this damn Dallis Grass is undefeated. I can’t pull it out and nothing is phasing it. Any recs? Celsius? Also should I try to kill this before I fertilize or does it matter? I don’t want this shite to multiply any more than it already is.

Oh shite, I have four of these in my yard. I was thinking of digging them up. Will follow your post for recommendations.

Dude I’m noticing it in most of my neighbors yard’s this year. No clue why that is, but it seems to be rampant and indestructible.

You have bermuda so Dallisgrass can be treated. However the treatment is expensive. Tribute total will get rid of it. However it is $450 a bottle. If it is only a few spots you can use Round up and the bermuda will fill back in quickly.

Sheesh man, that Tribute is pricey indeed. I’ve already sprayed Round Up on a bunch of spots, so was really trying to avoid doing that any more to have a ton of brown spots, but if that’s the only reasonable option I may have to bite the bullet and do it (Round Up).

Reading up on this it’s like the worst possible weed, haha. Roots are like 1 meter deep and impossible to pull out. And it never really goes away. Ready to nuke it!

Celsius kills that stuff. I’ve used Image All In One and it kills that stuff too and it’s far less expensive. Celsius is my favorite though.

How would a mix of Celsius and MSMA do on a bermuda lawn with dallisgrass?

Celsius done not kill Dallis grass. It suppresses it. If you have Bermuda, MSMA will kill Dallis.

What abt Centipede?

Edit: shite, just read the label for MSMA and it’s not recommended for Centipede. Bermuda, Bluegrass & Zoysia only.

I found this article on Dallis Grass/Centipede from LSU Ag. It pretty much echoes the sentiment here that Round Up is the best and pretty much only option.

I’ve tried straight roundup, msma, and ended up with a dead spot and dallis grass growin in the middle of the dead spot. The only successful way is to remove it by pulling it up when the ground is soft. The roots are 12” long. I use a 4- prong rake it loosen and pull it by hand or with the rake.

Ronk, have you tried Certainty on it? Have some in my cart on do my own for a few days, have quack and dallis on one fenceline, and VBW coming up on the other but have found little to no firsthand on if it truly eradicates, or if it's just a suppressant. Feels like I've been chasing my tail on these since they both started to show up late last summer. When I think I've got them out we get a good rain and they popup again a few feet from where they were. I may just go ahead and get a bottle headed my way and see how it does, just wondering if anyone had any experience with it here or not.

strong roundup in a solo cup. walk around with a latex glove on. dip fingers in roundup and rub the leaves. this is all you can do. it will probably come back every few months even doing this, but it keeps it pretty well knocked out.

Yeah same here with Round Up, just ended up with dead spots but it doesn't look like it even killed it all the way. I actually don't mind getting out in the yard and pulling weeds; I just wish these were able to be pulled. Guess I'll be digging up Dallis Weed all weekend.

Celsius made mine go away. I sprayed it twice. It’s gone. Didn’t come back either this spring.
