It’s only a weed if it’s unwanted.
Some people desire a clover or even a dichondra lawn. Others go with carpet grass
But most southern golf course and sports fields choose Bermuda.

It probably would’ve been better to order a “named” Bermuda instead of common, even if it would’ve cost more. That’s the only critique I would’ve offered if you asked before you ordered. But that’s already been ordered.

First time poster so appreciate any help.
I’m committed to the centipede to Bermuda transition as well but I think I messed up by spraying the Cleggs winter cocktail this weekend not realizing it was also a pre-emergent. My plan was to core aerate in 3-4 weeks, then top dress and seed but now I’m wondering if should core aerate now in hopes to disrupt the pre emergent effect and then top dress/seed in 3-4 weeks. Does that make sense? Or should I wait to do all of it in about 6 weeks?

I’m familiar with Clegg’s cocktail, but only from this board and don’t have experience with it.
My initial thought would be that the plant / grass would quickly die after the seed germinates because of the Altrazine. So you would have to wait until mid/late June to seed unless you brought in a new layer of dirt. That would still give you plenty time for the new turf to establish itself.
Studies have shown that aeration won’t have an effect on the pre emergent.

Use play/construction/masonry sand only. Many will recommend adding compost, but this is unecessary ($$).
Bermuda is a superior grass to Centipede, but requires higher maintenance. It's for lawn lovers. Definitely not for everyone.

If you have full sun it’s 100% perfect for Bermuda. It is the far superior grass. I don’t say that because I like it. I like it because it’s superior. It is the best with foot traffic, dog pee, drought, and heat. It is the most chemical tolerant and the highest forgiveness.

I’ve been fighting crabgrass as long as I can remember, and I’m tired of missing my pre-emergent window and then fighting this stuff all summer. Every summer it’s the same story…backyard turns to a weed jungle and God forbid I miss a week on cutting it!
I like the idea of bermuda bc I can spray for other weeds (crabgrass!) and keep my lawn.
Add on the two dogs, and now the boys playing baseball all summer, I just think this will be better for me.
Is the Pennington bermuda seed at Home Depot crap?

I don’t find Bermuda requires much more maintenance. You also don’t have to worry much about disease, drought, and fungus.
If you hate mowing, use a growth regulator. Or don’t feed as much, it’ll be fine.
Don’t feed centipede enough, it’ll die. Feed centipede too much, it’ll die. Feed centipede just the right amount, it’ll die. You get the point. Have fun with the extra maintenance trying to constantly fix a dying lawn.

Hijack a little… I have an area that’s about 1300 sq ft of centipede that I want to tear up and resod with empire zoysia. Problem is I just put down pre emergent on that centipede this week. How big of a problem is this. Should I wait?
