I noticed that one of the garage springs on my garage door was broken. Will this cause any issues if I continue to use the garage door with the opener until I am able to get the spring replaced?

Have you ever seen an overhead door fall with a broken spring? I wouldn't use it until it can get repaired.

It’s gonna be heavy AF and the opener is having to put out a lot more force than normal.

Should be able to find somebody to come out and replace it pretty quickly.

Don't use it unless you want to replace the motor or the chain or something else that will break. Just lift and lock manually, which sucks but is doable.

Just go look up how to replace the spring...its very easy.

All you need is the spring itself and a piece of 1/2" metal round stock.

Took me an hour once I figured it all out.

You can disconnect the opener and use it manually.

But I'd sure not use othewise.

One of the few things I will not do or attempt to do. I have a guy coming Monday morning to replace it.

The spring broke on my garage door once and I didn't notice it, and tried to use the garage door opener and it just pulled the top panel of the door straight back, bent the shite out of it, and ripped the door half off the tracks so I would say probably don't try to use it until it's fixed

Not advisable. I had one spring break and decided to see if I could use it. Let's just say I got away with one. The door came down so fast I thought it would get destroyed. Nope never again. These doors if not operating properly can cause physical and property damage.

Agreed it’s not too hard. Most difficult part is getting the pulleys lined up on both ends before you start loading the spring. Otherwise, take your time and it’s straightforward.

But if you don’t have a lot of experience tinkering with stuff, leave it to a tech to do.

This. Itsbone of those things that the difficulty is low, but thevstakes are high. Garage door springs store an absurd amount of potential energy. If you lose control of it, it's going to frick you like you've never been fricked before.

It’s super easy. I replaced mine a few months ago. Would never pay someone to do something so simple.

Mine broke a while back and my door wouldn’t work until I replaced it. I replaced it myself. It’s not very hard but you definitely have to be careful when you start winding the replacement spring

Loose spring damage…

You’re nuts if you try this without experience….
Worst $100 you’ll ever “save”

I did mine very easily in about an hour. Just ask the seller for advice on how many turns. Buy the tensioner rods and go to town

No doubt mist everyone can do it, as you say it is an easy job, but the downside is a slip of a tool and there goes your fingers.

It's like walking on an elevated 4×4.
Most anyone can do it, but one slip, you're toast
