While I agree with your sentiment, the world is forcing politics into everything we do. Sports, entertainment, and going to the store are rife with political statements.
NOLA has half the town trying to cancel and destroy the single best person in that town from a financial, moral, and humanitarian standpoint, who has done more good for the town than any elected official, because he doesn’t believe in kneeling. He didn’t shite on kneeling just said he didn’t believe in it.
Nobody wants all this politics BS but it’s being forced down our throats every single day.

I don’t disagree that politics needs to stay on the PT, but other than the Mayor talk you referenced above, not all of that you listed is necessarily political talk either, so perhaps a new board is needed for “Societal Talk” or what have you for that subject matter that kind of falls in between.

I agree that politics are injected into everything right now. Which is all the more reason we should temporarily rename this board “anything but Covid and politics”. Honestly, between social media, the news, and this place, there is no escaping it and it is detrimental to mental health. People ought to be able to temporarily escape the drama right now.
The best threads are those with good old fashioned gossip and banter. Or even the random Instagram hashtag threads, where we can appreciate instahos and laugh at the silly shite people do/choose to post online.

My suggestions:
1. More mods. Allow each board to have its own moderators. They would have the power to ban users from that particular board, not the entire TD site. They would also have the power to move topics to another board. This would need some sort of oversight so it isn't abused.
2. More boards. This is the OT - off topic. Current events are On-Topic. Create a current events, or News board. COVID, BLM, etc would fall under "News". Create Poli Talk (R) and Poli Talk (D) boards, let them have their own moderators.

I posted the top posts for each forum based on replies yesterday and everyone was like "hey brah what a waste of time" and "you must be really bored" and peej even wrote "why did you post this?"
