The shutdowns/quarantines and the affect on young people
Posted by MurderHornet on 8/9/20 at 3:05 pm
One thing that consistently gets overlooked is how quarantining young healthy people in the prime of their life is going to breed a generation of mentally diseased shitheads, even worse than what we are already seeing in big cities. Lockdowns suck for everyone but at least adults can somewhat handle it, I couldn’t imagine being robbed of my young years when I’m supposed to be out having fun.
When these people grow up they are going to have a lot of pent up animosity towards society. Most constructive outlets and extra curricular activities have been cancelled and all they have to do is read garbage on Twitter and what they see on the news. I fear this will be the most fricked up generation of all time

And this is why the masks are creating a political divide. What good does this type of accusation do
It gives beta sports fans something to blame the cancellation of the season on. They’ll be out in full force finger wagging at the anti-maskers whenever the NCAA shuts down

Sports writers (the national ones) want first and foremost to be woke so they can be relevant like real media. Since real media wants everything shut down they do too.
Ross Dellenger, Pat Forde, Pete Thamel, etc should be the first to get laid off since they are basically trying to influence the season shut down 24 hours a day.
re: NBA television ratings 'unremarkable' after solid start in return

Jesus dude... people are literally getting sent to camps and killed in China. Whether the players give a shite or not that is much worse than “someone said a mean thing” or protesting the false narrative that police are out to get you

I used to really like the NBA but them playing in a empty bubble seems boring as shite.
re: Will this be the death of small bowls?
Posted by MurderHornet on 8/9/20 at 10:49 am to JEAUXBLEAUX
They’ll have to eliminate half of the bowls because realistically some other schools and conferences are going to opt out now that the sports media is cranking up the heat

I don’t know but you can see the positive change started happening right after he promoted Bill Stepien
It’s truly remarkable how the Trump campaign has turned it around

In such a short time. Swapping campaign managers was a brilliant move, as was going pro-mask and signing the executive orders. The Dems are now forced to denounce these things, making themselves look like dicks who don’t care about health and poor people who can’t afford rent.
Also, in order to jack up the corona numbers for election time and get mail in voting like they want, they will have to admit that the masks are not effective. Props for president Trump for finally deciding to stop playing into their hands and attack them at their own game

re: Don’t the Non-Power 5 Schools Need the Rent A Win $$ to Survive?
Posted by MurderHornet on 8/9/20 at 7:55 am to STEVED00
The real motivation was purely financial, the MAC schools need those body bag games against Ohio State/ Wisconsin/ Penn State for their athletic departments to survive. Football doesn’t make any money and they also have to pull the dead weight of Title IX non revenue sports.
But... in a classic bitch move they threw out the “medical advice” excuse to drag the rest of the FBS and make themselves look better.

To be fair, I already contribute enough of my money through taxes for entitlement programs and worthless grants/ scholarships. What more could they possibly want?
The NFL should cancel the season
Posted by MurderHornet on 8/9/20 at 6:32 am
Why are they dragging their feet on this? Football isn’t important in these uncertain times, what’s important is being healthy and living to play the next season. If the NFL chooses to go forward with the season they are willingly putting players and others at risk to be exposed to the deadly Covid19 virus. They should listen to the science, do the right thing and cancel the season so all of us can be safe.

Sports writers, who would live under bridges if college football didn’t exist, are jizzing in their pants right now
re: Will the NFL play games on Saturday if college football is canceled?

They shouldn’t play games at all, it would be totally unsafe and reckless. Shut it down

LOL they don’t care about what me or you think, they care about money. They had to realize they would face a shite ton of backlash for going forward with a season, so why do it if you can’t take the heat?
The narrative that college football is unsafe to play in the covid pandemic
Posted by MurderHornet on 8/8/20 at 1:01 pm
Do people not realize that athletes have access to more testing and most likely cleaner/safer environments than they do at home? This is some of the stupidest shite I’ve ever heard in my life.
And if they were going to cancel anyway, why even make the schedules in the first place? None of this shite makes any sense, covid is nothing but fear porn

Literally nothing changed in the last week and college football is about to let a little bit of political pressure torpedo the season...

Except it's not.
LSU literally has “Black Lives Matter” blasted on the scoreboard. If that isn’t woke I don’t know what is.
Plus little anecdotes every 15 seconds about “systemic racism.” (Iowa, TCU, Colorado State, Clemson). Not to mention the PAC 12 crying and demanding 50% of the conference revenue. Universities forcing coaches to release a statement on George Floyd.
It’s not at NFL level wokeness yet... but it’s definitely starting down that road.

How will the left shut down College Football?
Posted by MurderHornet on 8/8/20 at 11:16 am
Although CFB is trending down the path of wokeness and becoming unwatchable, It is not a disgusting pile of shite yet... but that’s a discussion for another thread
For the most part, college football still gives people joy and something to look forward to, which could possibly take their minds off the Orange man being bad. The left has about a month to draw something up to ruin this, or if they want to be really sinister let a couple games get played before they decide to carpet bomb the sport.
My prediction is they are waiting for a 325 lb asthmatic lineman to get really sick during fall camp so the MSM can blast it nonstop over a 168 hour news cycle until every conference folds.
TLDR: Amateur sports are still mostly good, so there is no way they let the season happen

Toss up between Mississippi State and Missouri, would say maybe aTm if they got them later in the season.

re: Future of sports?
Posted by MurderHornet on 8/8/20 at 8:47 am to I Bleed Garnet
I thought covid was going to be a great reset where things could finally be put into perspective. It wound up being just the opposite... cramming a bunch of ignoramuses into their homes with nothing to do but read Twitter gave athletes more fuel to grandstand about social justice and cry about being underpaid.
You have to wonder how much farther they will go down this road before they completely destroy the entertainment value of all sports

This is going to get really bad. The worst part is the schools are caving every time
Iowa was basically because players didn’t want to be held accountable for dress code/conduct. TCU was a freshman who though he wasn’t getting enough playing time. Not to mention the numerous former players from various schools digging up the past to insert themselves into the spotlight.
re: How will the nfl spin the upcoming ratings drop??

They probably won’t drop that much tbh. People talk a big game on the internet but when it comes down it they are obsessed with their precious sports teams
