Why do so many people here eat ground turkey over ground beef?

Is it because it is usually a good bit less expensive? Do you prefer the taste?

Variety maybe?

If you're comparing from she same fat content like 85/15 they're pretty close nutritionally with the beef having slightly more calories. Protein is about the same by weight.

I think beef has slightly less calories.

I asked a fellow Powerlifter this question a while back. He told me his Doc told him that despite being lean (6% to 4%) red meat does not digest as easily as turkey meat. I call BS, but take it FWIW. He quit eating read meat three years ago. Poor guy.

Less fat. Really the only reason I can think of.

The only time I prefer using ground turkey is for grilling burgers. There is no flare up with turkey.

I get 2-3 deer ground up each year. Add 5% beef fat. Haven't bought ground beef in a long time. I tried turkey bacon once, and it was so disappointing I haven't allowed myself to try ground turkey.

Main reason, not having to strain ground beef. I can cook ground turkey for spaghetti or tacos and just go straight to sauce. Even lean ground beef usually has a little grease cooked out. Turkey fat renders dowm differently. That and the cost

Burgers on the pit, then ground beef. Easy dishes that use ground meat....turkey

Back when I first started eating healthy, I read Men's Health a lot. An article I read said that the less legs an animal has, the better the meat is for you.

They're basic philosophy was fish > birds > pork > beef. I don't remember the exact reasons, but I'm sure you could research to find out.

my primary reason is expenses and ease.

Harris Teeter this week has ground turkey with no antibiotics etc. on a huge sale. I got 3 lbs for less than $10. That's a good number of meals

I have been throwing it into a little meal with cauliflower rice and kale with hot sauce. Not a bad lunch for the office

Fiancée and her family like using Ground Turkey. Generally I use beef. Much more flavorful. I drain the fat after browning the meat.

Don’t understand why you would eat a turkey burger. Might as well eat a salad. The salad would taste better than a turkey burger.
