So basically I got lied to, lead on and cheated on by a girl I was planning to marry. The last 2 months have been an impossible hell at times but I’m planning to start hitting the gym hard now to help cope. Has anyone been through this? Any advice on sticking with it while dealing with heartache? Thank you.

i'm more of a runner than a gym rat, but i think exercise is the perfect thing to do when dealing with some turmoil. i do come at it from a religious stand point so i take my time in the gym and run as a time to be alone with my thoughts and pray heavily. that may not be your thing, but i find that it keeps my exercise very balanced.

A) it's less destructive than almost anything else you can do
B) it's putting the focus on improving yourself, if not a distraction
C) endorphins and runner's high are real chemical things. i never feel better than finishing a 6+ mile run.
D) meet new women.

Find a workout partner who will kick your arse if you miss a gym session. Preferably this person is either a hot chick or a superb wingman.

Love when I see a new iron piller.

Bro, you're in the best position. Want to transform. Soon, you'll be so jacked and on another planet and people will be in awe of the beast that was asleep inside you all this time.

The best part of working out is that if you put in the work, the success is guaranteed.

Brah, once she sees those guns, she's gonna tattoo "FML" on her forehead.

Sorry but glad you found out before getting married. You have to punch this thing in the face and be the Warrior that you know you are. Hit the gym hard and train and eat. You are going to make it brother and be the better for it.

Sorry to hear that, man. Like others have said, you're gonna make it her loss. Find a plan and make it your priority to stick to it. Getting your body tuned up will make all the depressing shite go away. It's going to be hard at first, but in a couple months you'll be wanting to go to the gym on your off days and people are going to start seeing you in a whole new way, and you're going to love it.

Good thing you didn't marry her
Then you would have gained 30-40 pounds

There is nothing I enjoy more than moving weight when I’m pissed off. I wish I could bottle that motivation and drink it as a pre workout

To answer your question the gym will become your therapy. Embrace it.

The best way to get over a break up IMO.

Release endorphins, gets your mind off of things, and mostly get a better body which in turn makes you more confident.

Yep I would lift listening to angry white men music to ease the pain but honestly I would learn to box and take that shite out on a heavy bag.

It's only going to get worse, so get ready. Just do your best to stay positive. Work out, spend time with friends and family. I'm going thru a divorce and it's been hell. Working out has basically saved me. Always remember that it does get better.
