YouTube was recommending some videos about the Wim Hof method so I tried it just for the hell of it and I’m now hooked. I start with a normal hot shower but at the end I turn the water all the way cold.

First day I was completely frozen and couldn’t move because it was so cold. I counted to 30 seconds and got out, gasping for air because the cold water shocks the body and you kind of involuntarily start gulping air.

By day 3 I wasn’t even counting anymore, I actually looked forward to the icy part of the shower. I’m now able to control my breathing and I can get my body under the water like a normal shower.

Benefits are I’m more alert, lower stress levels and it shortened a sinus infection I was having. It also feels good psychologically to “take the plunge” every day.

My only warning is the first couple times you do it you can get dizzy from gulping so much air.

I’ve been doing the same. I usually finish cold after my normal shower. Sometimes I’ll turn on straight cold in the shower if I’m feeling spicy. Feels good man.

Nice. I like trying stuff like this that doesn’t cost any money and I don’t have to take some new supplement.

I am slightly trying. Can’t control my breathing during it. I have been sticking my head under for a bit (10-15 seconds). Need to bite the bullet and get in there.

The head is the hardest part for me, that’s what really makes me gasp. I don’t put my head under very much, usually right at the end before I turn the water off.

It gets easier with time. I’ve been doing it for a few months. When I first started, I’d have to mentally fight to stay in for 20 seconds. Now I barely flinch on a normal day, but these past few days below freezing has been next level

I’ve been finishing my showers cold for years. Usually for a good 3-5 minutes.

I love them. It’s like instant energy and clarity.

Been doing it for a year. I credit it with drastically improving my allergies and sinus issues. The only place I absolutely couldn’t go through with it was Idaho in February.

Save my cold showers for the summer after runs or workouts.

I didn't know that but i do know that Sadhguru guy recommends it for health and spiritual reasons.

This was a lot easier in California. Now that I’m in Illinois and it’s zero degrees at night - the water coming out of the pipes is damn near painful when you go full cold.

When it is hot out I will start in a cold shower. When it is 63 in my house (which is as high as I'll set the heat) I will start warm/hot and finish cold. I could fall asleep in a warm shower and certainly go back to bed.

Every woman I've ever lived with took showers that would give me 2nd degree burns. I guess I'm a wimp when it comes to that.

I've always done this in the warm months, and never in the cold months. The water is frigid right now.

I'm a fan of contrast showers: take your normal hot shower, then at the end dump it to as cold as it will go. Wait a bit, then back to as hot as you can stand. Alternate between cold and hot a few times.

Sounds like some form of torture to me.

In the midst of it, yes. But when you get out the shower, you feel awesome.

I need to remember to get back to doing this. I read Wim Hof and did it for a while. I enjoyed them after the first few days.
