The small gym where I work out is closing.
My only alternative is PF.
Hate the thought of joining a big corporate gym.

Should I join or not?
Don't really have the room for a home gym.

Are you ok with no free weights like barbells and squat racks?
PF is a health spa, not a gym.
That being said, they have plenty including smith machines that can get the job done.

i mean depends on you goals. you are goign to be limited to how strong you can get but if you know how to use variations and bring bands, you can get a damn good workout in.

I just want to get in a good workout.

Plus I wonder what kind of goofballs I might have to deal with.

I was a member at one for a little over a year. If your not a hardcore gym rat you should be able to get your stuff done. The only negative was they don’t have free weight bench press or squat racks.

There are some goobers who go there but never had any problems. I always had my headphones in, took care of my business, and bounced. They usually offer a free week trial and specials for joining for new members.

They serve pizza and Krispy Kreme donuts. For $10 you can’t beat it if only option.

Then planet fitness will be fine for you. Just try and stay away from there from 4pm-7pm on weekdays as all the douche bags will be there with their gallon jugs of water sitting on the machines for 30 minutes checking how many likes their Instagram selfie got for the day

Nothing inherently wrong with PF. It’s a gym with good equipment. Don’t expect to be able to train like a powerlifting, but you can certainly get a good workout in.

Lived in a smallish town a couple years ago and literally the only option was a Planet Fitness.

Surprisingly there were way less douchebags uploading their lift videos opposed to the smaller independent gyms I've been a member of over the last decade.

It's clean, the equipment is in good shape and most of the people in there are either elderly or just starting out lifting.

It was actually pretty nice not having to fight 6 other dickheads for the dumbells or Smith machine I wanted to use at the time.

If I was a bodybuilder, PF would be a good rotational gym for me. Lots of machines for that purpose. But I’m more strength oriented, so it doesn’t suite my needs. The meme that PF is a shitty gym is overblown.

Sure.

The equipment is nice but you’re limited in the DB area (I think 75s are the limit) and other free weights (smith machines).

I think it depends on the size of the gym. I used one of the perks of PF when I was a member to go to a location when I was in Anchorage for work. Their DBs went up to 100 pounds at that location. It was substantially bigger than the one I was a member of though.

If PF is your absolute only option, then yes join. Just may have to get creative with your workouts. Back in the day when I was working construction, and didn't have much time to workout, I all I had at home were dumbbells that went up to 62.5lbs, an adjustable bench, and a curl bar. With just that equipment, I was able to get a pretty decent workout in for each muscle group, so I'm sure you will able to do even better than "decent" with what PF has to offer.

This is just an assumption since I've never been inside a PF because I'm a fricking unit, and I lift real weights.

I go to PF, this thread has me questioning my manhood.

Just don't clank the weights around or they'll blow the Lunk Alarm on you.

It's a cheap place to get a good workout in.
