Anyone have one of their bikes? Seen a few of their commercials recently and I've been using their app to do a few spin classes on a bike at the gym. Anyone know if the quality of their bikes are worth the price?

My husband got us one in August. We love it. He got it with a work bonus to use to help him train more for his mountain biking.

Being able to see all your stats on the bike and where you are at on the leaderboard compared to other riders is motivating. If you do live rides you are competing against whoever else is doing that live ride. Some instructors will have thousands doing their live rides.

If you do on demand rides you can see yourself on the leaderboard against anyone else taking that same ride as you.

The bike isn’t as useful unless you get the monthly $40 subscription to Peloton. But that gives you access to all the classes as well as a ton of other classes off the bike (stretch, weights, etc). You get Peloton digital access to the app to use wherever.

I was an app user like you at the gym and the bike is so much better. Plus....having it at home, makes it so much easier to hop on the bike whenever you want. We both ride at least 5-6 times a week now. My husband really loves all the power zone classes with Matt Wilpers. Matt is also a triathlete and uses power zone training. My husband has said he is already seeing a difference when he mountain bike rides now. He’s making new time records on his usual trails.

For the price of a peloton you can damned near get a legit real bike, put a power meter that reads your effort (power output in watts), and get a stationary trainer. Than for $12 a month you can sign up for programs like zwift or trainer road which have built in training programs that run on a laptop Zwift is like a game with an avatar and you literally can race people through virtual worlds or take part in huge group training rides. Trainer road is more down to business where a plan is out before you and you just match the power asked of you. Both are intense workouts.

So the method behind Peleton is legit.
I trained last year almost exclusively indoors like that. But I think its vastly overpriced. If you have no intention of ever riding outdoors, I guess theres no point in getting a real bike, so it's a good option. But even the monthly fee is just too high. And at some point, you could get a legit road or mountain bike and be doing the same thing.

The monthly fee is per bike. You can have several riders on one bike. And there are other classes available off the bike.

It isn’t for everyone and is very pricey, but for my husband and I, worth the money. It keeps us motivated. He is riding on it to improve his MTB rides, I’m riding on it to help with weight loss.

Bike gets addictive as well. I’m still kinda recovering from minor surgery last week and was legit bummed I couldn’t get on the bike last week.

The Peloton community is great as well. So many fb groups you can join and people motivating each other. Instructors motivating you as well.

I don't want one, but why insult someone who does if it works for them? Many ways to get fit, I prefer lifting heavy shite and crude equipment; but that's just me. I could careless if someone spends a bunch of money on bikes or whatever...at least they are trying and if it works then even better. Encourage instead on insult!

Fitness snobs really are some of the worst people.

And yes, we should be encouraging people to find what works for them.

why because they can afford it? why do shite in every thread? its annoying as hell. Not everything has to be your way. The bikes are not that expensive compared to other commercial spin bikes. About the same actually.

TO the OP, i have a few friends that have them and they absolutly love them. They were like you and used the app for a while to make sure they enjoyed it and then bought the bike. They haven't had any problems with the bike, I am sure they are commercial quality.

Knocked out one of Alex's 45 minute hip hop rides this morning. I had a puddle of sweat on the mat underneath the bike at the gym. Maybe after graduation I'll be able to look into actually purchasing one of their bikes

Jennifer Jacobs(JJ) is my girl. Love her classes as well as her music selection. Her climb classes are no joke.

Matt just seems like the nicest guy you will ever meet. I’m gonna try his power zone classes at some point.

Denis also has great music in his classes. Did his 30 minute Queen rock ride the other day and really liked it. Also as a female....he’s pretty nice to look at

ETA: you can actually finance the bike at 0% interest as well. Might be an option to consider after graduation. Working crazy hours as a nurse....at least you know the bike will always be available on your schedule. Will be easier to squeeze in a quick ride while working several 12 hour shifts in a row.

Glad to see it’s working out well! My friends that have them really enjoy them. We don’t have the room for one but thats awesome that it fuels the motivation (the key to everything regarding fitness/diet)

Keep up the good work

I’ve had one for a few weeks and have nothing negative to say thus far. It works, and the interactive classes keep my attention which was my only concern. I previously did spin a few times a week at the gym but it was difficult to make the set times and the playlist tended to suck. The ability to find a class I like that also has a good playlist is great. If you can fit it in your budget go for it don’t worry about the message boards douche bags that say they are too expensive. If it would be beneficial go for it.

I coach wrestling, and we just started implementing indoor cycling in to our workout routine. I use actual road bikes with Bluetooth indoor trainers from Cycleops. I downloaded an app called Rouvy and can create my own workouts. I attach an iPad to the front and my guys just worry about pedaling.

It is the single best conditioning workout I’ve ever seen. Not sure how it compares in price to a Peloton, but the trainers are around $600, and the bikes around $700-$800. I also like the ability to take the bikes out on the road for a change of scenery.

We have one. Love the features and functionality. A bike or spin is ultimately just an ancillary to me though, so I don't use it as much as we probably should

Ive been researching the Peloton for a few weeks now but I too just cant justify the price plus paying 40 bucks a month. From what Ive seen, there are alot of people that buy a moderately priced spin bike, attach their ipad to the bike, buy a speed and cadence sensor, and pay 20 bucks a month for the peloton app. From what Ive read, the only difference is that with the app, the peloton instructors cant see that you’re taking the class and you cant see where you rank with the other users during the class/ride. Total cost on that entite setup came to around 600 provided you already have an ipad.

2200 vs 600 (plus ipad if needed) is a damn good deal if you ask me.

Johnn it's prolly the route you should take at first to make sure you will use it.

I will say the peloton bike is commercial quality.

I’m a triathlete who has done 8 week programs on Trainer Road and seen great gains, but Trainer Toad can be a little boring/grueling. I just ordered Wahoo Kickr and plan on doing Zwift this Wnter. Hoping the interactive and competitive environment will make it a little more engaging and take away the pain. The winter is certainly the time as a cyclist to get your power up though with shorter and more intense workouts.

I've owned one since August of last year, almost 300 rides in and it's one of the best things I've bought in a long time. I never thought I would care for spinning but I love it. The bike is great quality and one issue I dealt with was the bearings that were making a noise. I contacted Peloton who was able to come out within a week and fix my bike (covered at no cost under warranty). Also, their customer service is hands down one of the best to deal with, friendly, helpful, and will go out of their way to make sure your satisfied.

If I didn't have this bike. I would consider the nordictrack one only bc of the swivel screen. I do believe the quality however is not as good as Peloton from the reviews I've seen where people have called the support center asking for them to pick up the norditrack bike from their home. The price of Peloton is high but multiple users can have their own profile, plus, if you have a teadmill, you have access to those classes in addition to the bike classes and classes concerning stretching, yoga, and strength training. I love the company and can't say anything negative about it and even decided to get the tread by them. There are countless youtube videos to watch regarding classes if you're curious about those classes. My favorite instructor is Robin Arzon as she kicks my arse on tabata rides every Tuesday, plus, I love her music choices of hip hop.

I prefer Zwift and Wahoo Kickr using my real bikes over Peloton. Peloton seems like marketing hype with lots of TV ads.
