ftr i do agreee with you 1000000%. in fact those that dont lift and are older, tend to lose as much as 75% of the weight from lean tissue. much of that is water but still concerning.

but i still would rather a female be 140 at 35% bf than 240 at 50%. it is healthier despite losing ~30lbs lean tissue

Is it even possible to mitigate the muscle loss with weight lifting and keeping your protein intake high, or are you just screwed either way?

yes the big % that are listed i the studies are all on those that do not lift at all and do not priortize protein. very low cals with very low protein plus no lifting = big time loss of muscle, semaglutide or not.

The person I knew that went on this took this route and imo even tho he went from a BMI of like 28-30 to 22 he did not look healthy at all. Seemed like lots of loose skin and just kinda deflated looking and looked sickly/unwell.

That’s what happens when you are fat and don’t take care of yourself

Doesn’t sound worth it. People are so lazy. Just eat right and exercise the old fashioned way. Even people that are on anabolics and hGH have to work at it to see results.

Then he lost a lot of muscle because a bmi of below 30 shouldn’t have caused low gh and skin elasticity issues

What are the ways someone can measure their body fat percentage besides calipers? Where and how much is a DEXA scan in Baton Rouge? What about a Inbody scan?

Ya here is what he posted online:

“Ozempic has gone awesome. 6.5 months in I am now down 40lbs, my BMI has gone from 29 to 22. I am the skinniest by 10 lbs I've ever been as an adult, and by 20 lbs in the last decade. I definitely lost some muscle mass in the process, I am going to guess about 12-15 lbs of that loss is muscle.”

May actually not be so much loose skin as just still skinny fat even at normal bmi? Idk I thought it looked unhealthy haha

He doesn’t look unhealthy. You just used to fat arms that made it look like he had muscle.

All he has to do is lose the weight which he is doing then start adding weight training.

He definitely would look better with more muscle, but good for him for losing some weight.

Yea don’t think he lost muscle, just didn’t have any. That’s why he is a bmi of 22 and is still more skinny fat than anything else.

You just used to people having muscle or being fat lol

I have a Renpho smart scale at home. It's within 1-2% BF of the Styku machine at the gym. Seems just as accurate for weight.

The studies show decrease in lean body mass. Maybe that’s because the vast majority of people taking the drug don’t train in the first place

On a strict caloric deficit, will lifting weights every day keep you from getting the pregnant dog body like that dude

yea absolutely, manytimes at a very high clip.

my point on that guy though was...he never had muscle to start with. he didnt look like he lost much muscle cause he didnt have any and was just fat.

and yea to answer the question below...caloric deficiet on GLP-1 combined with very high protein and heavy progressive weight lifting absolutly would stop much of the muscle loss. not going to completely though, anabolics would be only way to do that.

Layne posted a video and brought up a great point....so many claim they dont eat much, their metabolism is broken, etc etc etc yet they get on semaglutide in some form and they lose big time weight. yet no form of semaglutide has any effect on metabolism or any other mechanism of fat loss other than appetite control through slowing of the emptying of the gastric system, control of insulin and improved insulin sensativty so you dont get hunger pains.

so essentially all the fatties(still support them taking this medicine) are losing weight cause they are eating less and moving more........WHO frickING KNEW??

So I've been listening to various podcasts with MDs on the subject and fat cells have roughly a 10-20% lean mass composition. This can skew the data and not mean a large amount of muscle.

LBM is weight minus fat mass. LBM can be water, organs, bones, and muscle. It could just be that some of this LBM loss is from water.

alot of it is. the skinny fat look many have after the medicine boils down to 3 things

1) they had very little dry lean muscle to begin with
2) they did not priortize protein while dieting on the medicine
3) they didnt lift in any form while on the medicine

the above is sure fire way to look skinny fat when you reach "goal" weight
