mother probably wouldn’t be in the nursing home right now with dementia caused in part by non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, had these new medications been available years ago.
I have gone from a bigger guy in pretty good shape with perfect lab work prior to the Covid coming

Stopped the gym and now around to 25 lbs heavier and labs are creeping up in bad areas.

Currently really paying attention to my diet. Getting plenty steps and other activity and weight has gone down about 15 lbs.

All that said if I don’t mange to get 40-50 off by next fall I will get the shot. At 54 I can’t okay around w it anymore.

Do it.

Do all of that.

I am doing this very thing now and turning my mid-life around.

Truth be told, I've worked out most of my adult life and stayed in good shape, but in recent years have slacked off and started seeing a mid-section I've never seen before.

Starting with Lent, started eating clean (no sugar, no rice, no pasta, no bread, no potato) and back in the gym....down 15-18 lb now and continuing to lose.

Uncle J was already getting spammed from me, he walked me through it. I was trying to pay with unsettled funds, which took a while to settle.

know someone that went the compound pharmacy route and it is $300/mo.
One of my wife’s friends uses a place in Cenla. It costs like 250 a month for semiglutide and a good bit more for the other one. Can’t spell it, but you know!

Holy shite, this thread has grown since I looked at it. (I’m not reading 5 pages of fighting).

Update on me:

I’m closing in on 45 lbs lost (7 lbs since starting this thread).

I did start a daily regiment of a protein shake, which I believe slowed my weight loss some (in a good way).

I’m still in the gym three times a week, mostly cardio and some light weights.

I will have labs done in less than two weeks. I’m excited to see the results.

intermitting fasting is a fine strategy to control calories, thats really the only benefit to it. problem comes in with those like the OP who look up and its 6pm

The latest research is showing a massive increase in heart disease in patients that do intermittent fasting. Nearly doubles the risk. Risk/reward paradox continues

Also weird how society feels they deserve to know what one took or not. see the same thing with muscular people, comments of steroids rain down on anyone that is in shape or has muscles or is stronger than average. its weird AF

Being close to IFBB, I’m familiar with this. Very true with test, HGH, etc.

Ron says you need to make LIFESTYLE changes not rely on big pharma.

Society has been pushing your method for so long it’s nauseating. Move more eat less IS NOT SUSTAINABLE for patients with a GLP-1 deficiency. It factually will not be sustainable. Your need to put yourself on a high horse is similar to food noise. It’s more inevitable and powerful than you are able comprehend. I’m sorry for whomever conditioned you to be this way.

This is a very real issue right now. There is a shortage. Demand is higher than supply, especially in the higher doses. Nova is not struggling to meet demand for Wegovy. You can start on Wegovy and switch to Mounjaro later, but you will need to down shift on dosing to avoid side effects and ramp up again.

Most pharmacies here sell it for over a thousand per month. Where is this $250 per month?

It is pretty amazing how much this topic triggers people. I guess fat shamers fear losing their perceived elevated status in society. If unable to point “down” at others, weak minds will feel they are at rock bottom in society. Nobody wants to feel like they, so fat shakers point, ridicule, laugh, and in doing so perpetuate the problem.

Its the same reason some people at a high level of competition like to drag newcomers, or that the video game community can be so toxic.... you've got people who only really have one thing going for them (I'm skinny/fit, I'm good at X sport, I'm good at X video game) and if that thing becomes easier to achieve they aren't as special in their own minds.

Insurance companies usually don’t cover fatloss drugs.

Which seems crazy, since coming to an agreement on sensible prices for these drugs then making your insurance base healthier would benefit the companies long term since their payer base would be healthier long term. But executives are worried about profitability.
