Are they having Jazz Half? Friend told me it’s no longer a thing. Or is this year maybe the last??

Good luck to everyone running Houston and La tomorrow. Good conditions for a race, enjoy the miles.

I didn’t realize that they canceled it for good. Just though it was a COVID break. Bummer. Looks like they’re planning some other event for the Spring.

Nice job out there everyone who ran LA or Houston. That shite was cold and windy AF

It was cold, windy, dealt with some knee pain, and had a bowel issue there around 22. Finished at 4:07. That wind was brutal at some parts of the race. Congrats to everyone who ran!

American women marathon record set today by 37 year old Keira D’Amato at 2:19:12
Posted on 1/16/22 at 4:51 pm to quail man
Pulled out a 2:39 at Houston. Conditions were fantastic coming from Virginia where I’ve been running in the cold for months. First time under 2:40
Keira was amazing. She trains at our local track from time to time and it’s just insane to watch it he work she puts down.

Congratulations. That’s impressive as hell

It’s crazy how many fast people ran Houston. 2:39 got me 30 something in my age group

Must have had some horses out there today. That’s insane

Jesus. That’s nuts. Good work!

Running my longest race, the rock n roll half marathon, on February 6th. My goal of 1:45 was looking pretty achievable in mid-December but then I caught covid the week of Christmas and that put me out of running for over 2 weeks. Today I ran a hard 15k and surprised myself with my time—1:15 even. I think a 1:45 half could still be in play 3 weeks from now as long as my workouts go well and conditions are good on race day.

Hey all! I have been running recreationally for 15+ years and am finally going to do an official race. I signed up for the Mardi Gras Mambo 10K. I typically average 3.5-4 miles 2x per week very easily, so a 10K shouldn't be too bad but still a challenge.
I have started a 30-day training schedule to lead into the race that includes adequate rest, easy runs, and long runs each week. Any tips for my first official race?

As far as the race goes
1.don’t start too fast. Most do
2. Somewhat contrary to point one, you can run quite a bit faster in a race than your training (average overall pace)
3. You can definitely finish fast if you run the race correctly

So I missed my goal time by 17 mins. My legs got real tight at mile 16-17. No excuses.
I am glad I finished though, because it was a legit fight after mile 16.
I will avenge the marathon thread one day..
I still came in the top third of all male finishers though.

TA, great job man!
How are you feeling? Sore AF?

TA, we had a similar day. I fished 15 min off my target. I started struggling about mile 15. It wasn’t a lot of fun and finished 45 seconds off my PR. Frustrating day.

Thank you baw
.
Hell yeah I’m sore AF!
I had a good pace through 16. I knew I was fading though. It was weird. In my long runs of 16, 18, 20, etc., I never cramped up. But yesterday I did. Both of my legs were cramped up big time at the finish line.
Onto the next one!

I was supposed to run in corral B but my running partner and I ended up hopping a fence and running in D. Before the race, we stood in the corral for at least 30 minutes and didn’t get moving until 7:25 or so. It was freezing.
At least I beat him by a couple of minutes.
