Hit my weights and abs today. Got a hard hour ride on the trainer tomorrow morning because it’ll be too cold for a ride.

Long run Sunday for me. Wasn’t sure where my run would take me. My goal was low and slow… 15 miles at 9:56 with a 155 average heart rate. I will take it. 8 weeks to the Hilo Hawaii marathon for me.

Ran my first half marathon today at just over 2 hours. Legs are screaming at me, especially after driving for 3 hours after the fact. What's the best way to help the muscle recovery?

Stretch shortly after your run and throughout the day and stay hydrated. That’s always helps me.

Yeah, the sitting in a truck for 3+ hours right after the run definitely didn't do me any favors.

I had a solid 30 minute trainer ride this morning. I am sore from squatting and deadlifting yesterday.

I have a fast 4-mile run tomorrow (it will be on a treadmill and in a 7:50ish/mile range), a 15-miler sustained speed ride (17.0+ mph) on Wednesday, a 20 miler moderate speed ride (16.5+ mph) on Thursday, and then a 30-mile ride on Saturday. As y'all probably know, I am preparing for a 100-mile ride with some bros.

That sounds like a fun ride. I've been looking at getting into road biking but Dallas doesn't have the best setup for it.

I think I'm almost back to 100% from Covid. Still planning a little bit of an easier week but going to try and get the mileage back up in the 40's (27 last week) and save the speed work for next week.

Think I may be on track to run The Woodlands in a month. Next week will tell.

I've put 320 running miles on my running shoes since buying them in November. With still a month to go until my marathon, considering buying new ones. Is 320 miles too much to continue running on?

I've always read you're supposed to get new shoes every 400 - 500 miles. But I don't know if that's true.

Every shoe is different for every runner. Some get 500+ miles on Endorphine Speeds, most I ever got was ~320 before they just felt dead.

I always justify getting new shoes between 300-350 miles because it’s cheaper/better than risking injury. Unfortunately, that still works out to like 4 pairs of shoes a year. I do feel that I start to fee a little
More fatigue and joint pain at the end of a run with older shoes. Sometimes I will phase out an older pair by using it as a treadmill only shoe for an extra fifty miles.

Took a month off. Made a shoe change and blew up my right foot. Nothing serious, but brought into focus some imbalances that I've created. Started the Knees Over Toes Program to help fix that along with some foot exercises and ankle stability drills. As if that wasn't enough, I realized after reading the book Breathe that I was mouth breathing when running.

So..... I'm making the transition back to running this month. Had no idea the nose breathing thing would be this hard. Feels like running with a bag over your head. My times have really suffered and HR is high for the pace I'm getting. Just hope it pays off long term. Put in 6 miles this AM at a 9:45 pace average HR of 167.

Today is the longest run in my marathon training program, 20 miles. Did 19 miles a couple weeks ago at a pace of 8:59

I am almost certain it was COVID I came down with a week ago because I had the same symptoms my mom and sister had that tested positive, and my lungs I would say are 95% recovered now so I should be good to go.

Also bought some new New Balances yesterday. For $150 they better be good.

Good luck baw!

I'm still digging my Air Zoom Pegasus 38s, but I'm interested in the New Balance Fresh Foams once the Pegs run out of juice.

20 mile run last Friday, my joints(specifically ankles and knees) were hurting at the end. Any way to pre-emptively deal with that on marathon day? Would taking some kind of pain reliever mid race help at all?
