Thanks. I feel it in my throat and lungs. My wife has it worse than I do and strangely the kids both tested negative.

I've gone from completely bummed about not running to finding excuses why I'm glad I'm not running (cold and windy).

Overall I'm sad.

I hope I'm properly trained and not over-tapered, if that's even a thing.

Sidebar: does anyone else here have a dog they run with? The wife (no pics) and I are considering getting a pup. I've read labs, goldens, golden doodles, Aussies, etc., love to run long distances.

Sidebar sidebar: what races are we running this year?

My goldendoodle is too damn goofy to run with me. She likes to zigzag in front of me and bite the leash because she thinks that's the game.

Negative. I'm hoping I can shake this in a week or so and do the Woodlands on March 5th.

2022 Race Calendar looks like this now:
Houston Full - Nope
Woodlands Full in March - Maybe
Local 5k/10K in May
NYC (entry from 2020 Virtual) in Nov

My old roommates German short hair would run a 5k with me no problem

I should have trained my Golden to run with me but we got her when she was older. I see my neighbor running her’s all the time

My vet said to do a couch to 5k type of thing with them

There are three dogs in my Saturday AM run group: an Aussie, a Doberman, and a Vizsla. The Vizsla is BY FAR the best runner. The lady that has it ran a virtual Boston Marathon with it. The damn dog looked like it could have run it again. It's a machine. Good temperament.

Aussies can be squirrely. I have one that is hyper protective and I can't take him anywhere for fear of him biting someone. The guy in my run group's dog isn't that bad, but she's very skittish and yappy.

The Doberman is a beast. It looks like Takeo Spikes and drags his owner around.

I was planning on trying to PR tomorrow. Looks like winds are going to be 15-20mph. I feel like I’m trained and ready but not sure how that wind is going to impact me. Thoughts from the veterans?

Thanks for the support. 15 mph winds from the NW out by LSU lakes is messing with my mind.

PR for what? If it’s a longer race, you won’t be in the teeth wind forever depending on the direction you’re running.

I usually do my long run on Saturday but did my 19 mile run yesterday because I wanted no part of these 40 MPH winds in 35 degree Temps. frick that.

Running the full tomorrow as well. My long run has only been 16 because of a knee issue. My mentality went from having a tight set goal to just finishing my first marathon. I’ve cut back a lot of miles the last three weeks bc of the knee so curious to see hot this turns out.

Good luck. That was kinda my mentality last year. I backed down to the half this year for LA.

My race calendar as of now is just the LA half tomorrow and the Hilo HI marathon in March
