Going tonight as well. Bringing my (non-deadhead) wife. Hope she doesn't fall asleep  Looking forward to hearing some interesting music.
Ran the Louisiana Half in 1:37 (PR). Goal was sub 1:40 so I'm happy with the results. Top notch race. Everything from the set up and course to the after party was very well organized. Perfect weather helped of course. Plan to run the full there next year.
Anyone running the Louisiana Marathon on Sunday? I've never participated before but I'll be running the half and going for a PR of sub 1:40. Weather is looking ideal for a speedy race. :dude:

A good garlic press is very handy.

Give the man a break. He’s hungover.
Starting my 16 week training today for the Louisiana Marathon. I ran two full marathons in 2022 so I needed a little break. I am only running the half in January but my goal is to PR and to finish around 1:30. Looking forward to getting back to the grind!

I won two for Thursday as well! Breaks my ten year rejection streak. Bringing my dad. Anyone have any good strategies and places to stay recs if just going for one day?

Errol doesn’t have time for that shite.
PM. Rhoback loses points due to that awful dog logo on every shirt.

Went to La Fonda on Main (rec from this board) when I was there a couple of months ago. Short Uber from River Walk. Great food, atmosphere, and service. Very reasonably priced too. Get a resy.

PR'd the NOAC Turkey Day 5 mile race right around 35:00. Think I probably went about 80% as I'm tapering and wanted to take it somewhat easy. Running the RnR San Antonio marathon next Sunday. Had a credit from the canceled RnR NOLA marathon last year so picked this one. Anyone else here running it? Weather's looking fairly warm, unfortunately, but looking forward to it regardless. Ran my first marathon in Birmingham earlier this year with a 3:51 time. Shooting for 3:30 this go round.

Update: Finished the San Antonio Rock n Roll at 3:32. Shaved 18 minutes off of my time in February and finished in 18th out of 149 in the M40-44 group and 124th out of 1,626 overall, so I was pleased with my results. The course was actually very nice. Most of the back half was through the greenway trails in the East Side. Lucked out with the temps as it was cool and overcast with a drizzle from time to time.

Pretty good experience overall but I'm done with the Rock n Rolls. Way too corporate and money grabby. Probably sticking with Half Marathons for 2023. Hoping to get one back in NOLA. I think I heard Ole Man River will bring their Half back next December.

Got two floor tickets for Friday night. Getting pricey with the new fiddler joining the squad.

Long time listener, first time caller. Fallen soldier.
Hit the wall around 23. There were a bunch of volunteers/supporters out with water, Gatorade, and Gu to help you get to the finish. That really helped. Just gotta suck it up and push through the pain.
Ran my first marathon yesterday in Birmingham. Finished 9 minutes faster than my goal of 4 hours, which put me at 115th/442 overall and 20th/45 in my male age group. Weather was ideal. Course was a double loop but still fun with all of the elevation changes. It was a great experience overall.

I'm obviously sore as hell today. Anyone recommend getting a full body deep tissue massage this week or is that not necessary?
Great job! That's a really good time for your first 1/2 and for having the COVID hiccup. I had no idea that they changed the course but definitely not surprising with this city's current shenanigans. I run along the lake all the time and it can be pretty boring. The original route is obviously much better. It's a good thing there wasn't much wind that day.

I also have the Endorphin Speeds. I've put around 400 miles on them during my marathon training and haven't had any any issues.
How was it? Weather was fantastic yesterday. I was supposed to run the full until they canceled. Ran my last long run yesterday in prep for Sunday's marathon in Birmingham. Weather forecasting to be a bit chillier with low of 28 and high of 49.
Which marathon are you running next month? I'm running my first as well next month in Birmingham. Looks like we are at about the same fitness level and goal.
