Anywhere in BR to run on an actual track?
20yrs ago back in college, LSU had the sports complex with a smaller 2nd floor track.

Only one I see that might be open to the public is behind Broadmoor Senior High off Goodwood. Otherwise it’s LSU or Catholic High, neither of which I’d guess are accessible.

LSU used to be accessible but lately they’ve been locking it up. Same with CHS but I don’t know if it was accessible previously or not.

11 miles at an 8:45 pace. We had 1200 ft of climb today. First 3 miles were brutal. It was hot and humid today. Tough run.

13.1 in 1:55:33. 8:49/mi pace. Goal was 9:09 so I’m really pleased with that.
My HR was high (165), but it was muggy this morning.

Covid really makes it difficult to sign up for an international race.
One I'm interested in requires vax (fine) and a negative test. Well shite, what if I get all the way out there vaxxed and pop positive? I guess I'm fricked. Why would I ever commit thousands of dollars to a race like that?

I’ve considered running in the Paris marathon one day, just because I love Paris. I don’t speak hardly any French though. Plus, running with 50,000 others isn’t attractive to me.
How is everyone today? Today is my rest day.
My schedule this week is tough. I’ve got a 10 mile tempo at marathon pace on Friday and a 20 miler at 9:39 with the last 8 miles at marathon pace on Sunday. I really hope it cools off by then

I think Woodlawn high may be accessible but don’t quote me on that

Feeling good. Put in 10 yesterday morning, felt great out there.

Feeling ok. Ran a 10k race on Saturday. Hot and humid. Finished at around 48:00.
I'm officially halfway through my marathon training. Time to turn it up! Got a 16 miler coming up later this week. Need the weather to stay below 70 from here on out, dammit. Maybe after this week?

Easy 6 at 9:43 pace today. Nice HR of 145. I wanted to go further, but I had to get to work!

Paris is on my list to do as well. Back in Jan 2020 I was looking into it for 2021 with some friends from work, but that fell apart.
Kind of a down week with a tune up Half this Sunday that I'm using as an extended Tempo run.

Just signed up for the Rock n Roll half marathon in New Orleans on February 6. It's $35 off for today only, fyi. It'll be my first half; hoping to break 1:45.

Had a good bike yesterday and some fast mile sprints today. Set a PR at 7:03 and had plenty left in the tank.
10 at marathon pace (9:09/mile) tomorrow.
Sunday is a beast: 20 at 9:39 with the last 8 at marathon pace.

Out with a right ankle injury til end of yr probably.
Been on the stationary bike for about half hr a day. Anyone find cycling helps during downtime from running? I don't want to lose what endurance I have from running.

imo it will help but you'll still lose some. every fall i start running stairs to try and build up for ski season, and every year i get my arse handed to me the first couple days. i'm sure it helps but still

My joints hurt. My pace would have been better if not for that north wind(which gusted to far more than 16 MPH), but it wasn't as bad as a 35 MPH southwest wind I had to run in on Wednesday which was a major bitch.
I am learning that marathon training isn't so much about building endurance in terms of breathing since I am not tired in terms of respiratory or circulatory exhaustion. My heart rate stayed consistent around 158 the entire run. I got a phone call during mile 15 and had no problem talking. But my joints and muscles... extremely sore. I am going to lay on my couch the rest of the day.
My marathon is on February 28.

Is this your longest run to date? Then yeah it's about training your body to perform for 3-4 hours of continuous aerobic exercise. While this training includes respiratory function, your body's ability to move that much for that long is something you need to condition your body to do. Very few people have the ability to just have that endurance built in without training up to it.
Glad to see the training is working for you.
