Tempo this morning on the treadmill at the gym. 1 easy, 5 at 9:04 (below marathon pace), and 1 easy. It wasn't bad, it was just boring.

I am either going to do an easy 8 mile run or hard 25 mile ride tomorrow morning.

Huh? This is somehow both ambiguous and specific.

Ok sorry about being confusing.

20 guys age 30-40 5'7-5'11 150-170lbs. 3 months of moderate training, how many would have the ability to run 12mph for a minute.

Easier running terms would be who can run 5 minute per mile pace for 0.2 miles.

Still no verifiable way of knowing that, but I’d wager less than 50% if you’re just picking people off the street that meet your specs.

We don't do a lot of measuring by the mph around these parts.

I have no idea how to answer your question. Why do you ask?

I'm going way less than 50% even if you take mid pack runners. 5 min mile would be a full sprint for most runners. go luck holding it for a minute. I can't.

I think I could get a five minute mile or close to it. It would be an absolute maximum effort sprint, though. I'd also probably need a tailwind and a downhill course.

Maybe after the marathon. My fastest mile of all time was 6:58 . . . in high school. I think I might be talking out my arse a little

I feel as if I could get a sub 6-minute mile right now. It would take serious effort though.

I've been in marathon prep for pretty much the last 6 months (Chi Oct, now Hou in Jan). Anytime I see intervals or threshold miles on my plan, I have to recalculate where it should be right now.

Early last year for Half training, my HMP was 7-7:15. I'd be lucky to hit that in threshold miles right now.

I say all of that to mention that soon I want to do an all out mile just to see what it is. Current best effort (per Strava) is 6:38 back in May when I was in 5K shape.

i could do 5:10 miles in high school. never broke the 5 minute barrier. suffice to say those days are long gone

reminds me - i was in annapolis for a week with work a couple years ago. looking for a place to run i saw you could run the naval academy. it was pretty cool except...it was me and a bunch of 18-20 yr old naval cadets. i might as well have been standing still. swear to god one guy lapped me twice

Any run bros in Lafayette wanna join me for a brief and easy jog tomorrow morning? I will be there for work. I could probably get a run in at 6. Maybe 5-6 miles at an easy, conversational pace (9:54 or so).
