Nailed my 20 miler in a little over 3:09:XX. Pace was 9:30. HR was 152!

First 12 were at 9:39/mi. Last 8 were at 9:09/mi. I had to stop three times. Once at mile 3 to pee, then again at mile 10 to pee and for a gel, and then again at mile 14 for two gels.

Then yeah it's about training your body to perform for 3-4 hours of continuous aerobic exercise

This is a crucial concern. It’s hard to go from running an hour to three hours. I consider myself a fragile runner, and I work my time on my feet up slowly to address that. That being said, I don’t think I have ever run more than a couple hours at a time.

I’ve never had a problem adding a mile a week. Granted I’ve only gone up to 15. My problems happen when I try to go faster than I should.

Mile repeats this morning…4 @6:10/mi with a warmup and cooldown. Cold and rainy. Shoes were sloshing big time

Negative, ghost rider. Currently all I’ve got is LA Marathon & Zydeco Marathon, running the half in both of those. When is Houston?

My B. I think there is another poster in this thread who is running Houston. It's mid-January.

All good bro. You’re right, there’s at least one other who’s running that one

Yep, I’ll be running.

Half went good this weekend. Despite a 25-30 mph head wind for the first half (out and back along sea wall) I was 2 mins slower than my PR. There were only ~450 people that ran the Half. Winner was at 1:27 and my 1:37 was good for 26th overall and 2nd in my age group.

Sprint intervals this morning at the gym on the treadmill. 0.25 mi RI then 0.25 mi at 7:16/mi pace. It wasn't bad. I had a little stiffness in my left heel at first, but that dissipated pretty early on in the run.

I have a long, slow 9 tomorrow morning. If I have to run indoors tomorrow, I'll probably shorten that to 6 - 7, just because 9 on a treadmill is incredibly boring.

In West Virginia with my wife’s family for Christmas. Not a lot of training options. Ran up and down the hill next to the house for 30 minutes. Probably a 20-25 degree incline.

I feel like I get back into running, post here, then lose interest and get out of shape, then repeat the cycle. I'm trying to hold myself to a higher standard in 2022. Me and my friends usually do a washed up mile race on Christmas Eve but we weren't able to this year, so i did a TT myself. Here's to a better, more disciplined 2022 after the Christmas eating is finished!

honestly it was pretty cool - twisty trail through the jungle

13.1 in 1:56:52 today (8:55/mile pace).

I skipped two runs last week like a little Hard Candy Christmas Bitch.

The marathon is just a few weeks away!

Hope everyone had a good holiday

Easy 15.75 mi bike this morning. Average HR was 126. I spent a little more time in zone 3 than I wanted, though.

I had some hard sprints today. They were the hardest I've done thus far. I got them done, though. My HR was sky high at 171. To be honest, I am a little worried at how challenging they were.

8 x 0.50 mi at 7:24/mi pace with 1:30 RI.

1 - 3:35, 7:11/mi pace
2 - 3:29, 7:01/mi pace
3 - 3:27, 6:54/mi pace
4 - 3:27, 6:55/mi pace
5 - 3:30, 7:02/mi pace
6 - 3:34, 7:09/mi pace
7 - 3:36, 7:13/mi pace
8 - 3:35, 7:12/mi pace

I ended up running 5.24 mi.

Tomorrow, I have a hard 25-mile bike. Thursday, I have a slow nine, followed by a 1 easy, 5 at MP (9:09/mi), 1 easy tempo run on Friday. Sunday is 13 at 9:24.

The marathon is only 19 days away!

I've had covid for the past 8 days. Anyone have any experience with getting back into running afterwards?

I'm early 30s with no health issues, and I had a mild case. I still have a slight cough and some fatigue, but if that subsides I'm planning on going on a light jog on Friday. I had been training for the rocknroll half marathon in NOLA on February 6th and training was going well. I was a little over 1 week ahead in training using the Hal Higdon intermediate 2 template. My longest run, a couple of weeks ago, was 9 miles. My goal was 1:45 but will probably need to dial that back. My resting heart rate has stayed low 50s the whole time I've been sick, but I expect I've lost a lot of fitness in the past 1.5 weeks.

Shorter interval session than I wanted this morning. I cannot overstate how gross it feels outside right now
