I considered the north shore race, but I didn’t feel like driving outside of New Orleans.

The Turkey Day Race in New Orleans is now a virtual race, so that sucks too.

Hey everyone. If you are interested in running a half or full marathon, as of last night, we have two spots left for the half and 12 spots left for the full.

Thanks, baw. Added it to the Strava group to see if there are any takers on those last 11 slots.

I got a great workout in yesterday. Ripped it off of a Lionel Sanders video.

3/4M WU
1K @ 3K Pace
4x400m @ Mile Pace
1K @ 3K Pace
3/4M CD
*Equal parts recovery

I decided to run all the intervals slightly faster and take shorter rest than prescribed as I'm going to take another crack at a 5K in a week or so. I would suggest you guys looking for a good workout to give it a try.

You doin it on a track or in a neighborhood?

I would always prefer to do workouts on a track, but I don't have any open ones close by. So the neighborhood it is. Most of the streets in my neighborhood are in 400m segments which makes this workout easier. I also like having my 4yr old ride his bike next to me on the WU and CD.

Did team speed work. Went over 1k miles for the year and didn’t know it so that’s exciting.

5x800 @ 10k (ended up closer to 3k honestly) pace. I felt like I could have gone faster but I’m so damn afraid of injuring myself before this marathon so I kept back a bit.

Saw that one; solid. Will use it next week. Looking to build some 5K speed also, for Turkey Trottin' most likely.

Dude is a workout beast. unfortunately, it tends to cost him in Kona.

just under 8 pace.

today track
5 lap easy
5 x 400 (200 med/200fast)
5 x 800 (1 med/1fast)

Just want to drop this vid to get people ready for fall and cooler weather. Crested Butte's Emma Coburn. US's only medalist ever in steeplechase.

I also decided to go with the Fenix 5 from Jackrabbit

Comes in on Sunday. I'm hoping it does a better job of instant pacing. My polar watch varies wildly.

I did a lunchtime track workout today, all lane #2:

1 mile warmup
1 mile @7:10
5 minute rest- 0.6 mi@8:31 pace
1 mile @7:13
5 minute rest- 0.49 mi@10:13 pace

I'm looking forward to the Garmin software upgrade that will allow you to select an outdoor track workout and indicate the lane you're running.

I am jealous of all you guys who have open access to a track. Schools around me protect their tracks as if they are holy land.

The Rogers school system just built 3 this year with open access. My cup runneth over. It’s crazy really.

I am a member of the high school before 5 am track club. That's about the only time outside of 8pm at night that you can access it without someone questioning you and making you feel like you've stepped on the Holy Land.

Note that our local high school has no rule against outsiders running, walking, etc outside of normal school hours, but there are a lot of Karen's teaching at that school.

I also expect to get 10' of snow this winter so there's that trade-off.

The large town/small city I live in has a public college, so that helps a lot. There was another track here but the high school started construction on a new football field and athletic complex. The track was in ok shape but it was about a mile from where I live which gave me a nice warmup. The college track is about 1.5 miles away but a little hillier to get to.

There's also an indoor track that's open to the public at certain times of the day during the winter, but I don't know how that's going to play out during COVID.
