I'm jealous of your elevation.

I have to actively seek out hills and even then I struggle to get 400 ft over 6 miles.

Signed-up for the Northshore 10k. Pretty disappointed they got rid of the half since that fit into my training schedule for the MS Gulf Coast full. I guess we have to take what we can get these days.

Just knocked out my longest training run this morning

13 miles 8:18/1:47:53
700 ft elevation gain

New Hoka Rincons held up great. Feel stronger than ever.

10 @ 7:22 this morning

Plan to move to running 5 days a week in September and start building a bit. Would be 12 weeks from there to White River.

I just received an email about the Richmond Marathon. It will be an interesting setup.

A dedicated course has been created, using the Virginia Capital Trail, as an out and back. Water stations will be spaced out every 2-4 miles, and bathrooms will be stationed along the route as well. Runners have from November 7th to the 22nd to complete the course, and the course is open from 5:00am to 5:30pm every day. Runners can upload their results into the Racejoy app. There is a cap of 3,000 runners for the field. The same setup and field cap will be used for the half marathon and 8k races. $85 to register ($30 for the 8k) and everyone who pays the entry fee, virtual or not, received $10 off next year's race of the distance they choose.

How are other race organizers trying to find creative ways to put on an event?

Anybody watch Cheptegi break the 5K WR in Monaco today? 12:35. Wasn’t even tired after. Geebus.

Supposed to have over 1800ft over 13 miles tomorrow AM. That doesn’t sound right to me as the Sat run group is usually flat.

Any of you guys running faster/further later in life? I was a 21minute cross country (5k) runner in HS. I’d like to get to the point of running a 7 minute pace 10k. I think my problem in high school was not enough long runs.

Is this achievable here a decade later? I’m currently running 3-4 miles at ~8min pace a month back into training

If you are willing to put in the work it is possible. I was never a runner unless it was 100 yards or less until I was 35. I got fat and decided to start jogging and did that for 4-5 years. Nothing too serious. My best 5K was 23 minutes and best 10k was 51 minutes. I’m 43 an in January 2019 I decided to actually train a little. I ran a 20:02 5K in November and dropped my 10K under 45 minutes.

Yeah, you’re 28 not 68. Just run consistently and jump into a 10k or half plan eventually, and I’m sure you’ll get close to your goal.

Yeah man. I ran my first half at age 30 in 2016. Ran it at 1:53:00. Currently am running at a faster pace than that, goal time is quicker than 4 years ago.

Personally, this time I’ve really had to focus on nutrition, and form when running.

15 year break, 39 year old ex smoker here. Started running again 2 years and 9 months ago. This spring I ran a solo 16:32 5K and a solo 1:13 half mary.

It's possible to destroy your high school PRs later in life if you want to put in the work.

13 miles this AM at a 9:30 pace. Felt great. Really took my time and worked on my form. Only 400ft of elevation today which was a nice break from Thursday’s run.

Nice!!

I’m going to need a second belt for my nutritions during runs. I was dying for water and sugars at the end of my 14 today.

I surrendered at 22 miles.

The sun came out after a morning rain and people started dropping out left and right.

Trying not to be too hard on myself about this one. I have a new respect for the summer heat.
