Just got word the Jazz Half is cancelled. Guess that should have been expected, but shite...it ain’t til October! Ugh.
Damn, and so it goes. I am planning to do the Northshore Half which is usually the same weekend, or close. Wonder what's going to happen with it.

Finished April with 139.2 mi. Total for the year is at 495. I'm keeping my weekly mileage between 30-35 with my long runs at 10-12. Until I find my next race, I don't have the motivation to go beyond that.

122 here if we're posting April #'s. My sentiments are pretty much in line with yours, except realistically I'll shoot for 25-30 mpw and be fine with that as a base retention.

Less about specific # of miles in April but more about my mentality moving forward..
I'm ready to train , run hard when needed, and perform better than I did month to month versus 2019.
My recovery is done, I'm pain free and have no reason to hold back. Today it started and I'll work as hard as I can.... I have to toughen up mentally and let go of some self doubt.

Today was supposed to be my first real race of the year, the Mountain Goat Run, in Syracuse. 10 miler with 565 feet of elevation gain. I did my virtual run in town and got close with 482 feet of elevation gain and finished just under 1:34. My time wasn't anywhere near my goal for the in-person race (sub-1:20) but here are my excuses
1. Left foot strikes are still tender due to two big warts in the toe strike area. Hopefully my next trip to the podiatrist in two weeks will finally bring some relief.
2. It s just not the same without other runners. I enjoy having others around and pushing myself to either keep up with or pass fellow participants during a race. I can't find that same gear by myself, and I haven't yet found a running buddy in town that will keep a similar pace.

I ran 10 miles today for a long run. I kept my pace consistent the whole time but my heart rate crept up a few beats per mile from a HR of 135 on the first mile to 150 for the last mile.
I have a max heart rate of 196, so I am wondering if this is too high for a long run.

Got 13.1 after 15 yesterday
Happy with pace considering the temps.

3 miles at 9:11 (with stops to stretch) after a 20.8 mile ride at 1:19 (lots of traffic at crossings and stopped to adjust my seat once).

Ran a trail for the first time in months today. Always a fun time. Nice change of pace.

Agreed. Virtual runs just feel...sad and disappointing.

5 @ 9:19. Shot for 45 mins at Zone 2. Went a little further. Had to stop to stretch calf a couple of times.

6.2 @ 10:38 this AM before work. First time I’ve run on the streets by my house before sunrise. For some reason it’s a lot more ominous than running those same streets after sunset.
Edit: guess I should introduce myself. I live on the Northshore and do most of my running on the Trace and in my neighborhood, but i want to start venturing to some local trails soon. I ran track and XC in HS (‘03), but didn’t run again til ‘15 (pair of halfs and a full). Stopped pretty much when I got married, then had 2 kids, so life got hectic. Picked running up again in February, and here I am. I’ve been lurking, but I thought posting might help me stay accountable.

A little over 7 this morning. It wasn't really that hot out but when I got back I was drenched. HR never jumped into Zone 5, even hitting sub 9 over the last 2 mi.
My runs are feeling easier in the low 9, upper 8 pace. It still takes a mile or two to wake up on the earlier runs.

Haha, thanks! I’ll definitely listen to any tips people have to offer. This is the first time I’ve started to vary my workouts purposely. I want to start doing hills, but it’s all flat over here, so I’m guessing parking garages or interstate embankments may be my best bet. Maybe a treadmill (ugh) when the gym reopens.
