Thanks y'all. I don't think it's that big a deal. HB, yessir I do eat red meat. I just thought it was kinda weird but understand the possible hows and whys and decided to share.

Four miles in 32:53 (8:13/mile). I had a nice, easy pace today. It was a good run.

Burt, do you follow any specific diet?

Nah, I just try to keep it balanced. Fruits, veggies, meats and cheeses, whole sheet cakes... You know, the basics.

Easy 5 miles today with the kid. Really needed that run to work out some nervous energy. Things are just so fricking weird right now. Amazing how a good workout can give you clarity.

My gym is closed for the foreseeable future so I’m going to be putting some miles in now.

Turns out I'm anemic

Exercise induced? I went down this rabbit hole once and found that runners tend to lose red blood cells through the soles of their feet from the impact. Sure you know all of this, but we lose RBC's through sweat as well. I also remember reading that we may have a lower count, but that the RBC's will be in a sense younger because of the constant turnover and regeneration. I'm sure I'm butchering the Medical lingo and it's possible I have no clue what I'm talking about, so take it with a grain and trust the white coats and your own DD.

It's laid out pretty well in this article.

RBCs

Anyways, please keep us posted as I'd love to hear your dietary changes and the results.

While we're on the Medical tip, I thought I'd share a bit of good news about my situation. Had my 6 month scans last week to check the healing of my dissection and it appears to be fully healed with no remaining stenosis or blockage. This was very welcomed news in these strange times. The last 6 months are nothing I ever want to go through again or would wish on anyone.

Arch great vessels are grossly patent. Common carotid arteries are patent. The carotid bifurcations are patent. Vertebral arteries are patent.

The previously described dissection of the distal extracranial left internal carotid artery has resolved. Associated mural thrombus within the dissection has resolved.

Distal portions of the internal carotid and vertebral arteries are patent. The basilar artery is patent. The anterior and middle cerebral arteries are patent. The posterior cerebral arteries are patent. There is no evidence of an aneurysm or vascular malformation. There is no evidence of a large vessel occlusion.

Glad you’re fully recovered. Typically any blood loss through foot strike is non detectable or very mild. My PCM knows I run so we’ll just retest in a month. Actually, if she were to suggest it were foot related, I would be tempted to get a second opinion.

Anyhow, I look forward to seeing you ramp it up this spring and summer. I know you were on the verge of doing some real quick stuff. I’m excited for you.

I’m having a lot of left heel pain and stiffness that started yesterday morning. It gradually waned throughout the day and didn’t affect my run. It’s stiff and sore today. Affecting my gait a little when I walk. It’s not pain as in I rolled an ankle. It’s concentrated to the very back of my heel and Achilles just on my left foot.

Not sure what to do.

I bet it’s plantar fasciitis since I’ve recently added hills (a lot of them) to my training.

Pain to the back of your heel could be Achilles tendinitis or retrocalcaneal bursitis. Plantar fasciitis is usually on the bottom of your foot under your heel. Rest, ice, nsaids as needed, and Achilles/heel stretches should help.

Hattiesburg Half/10k/5k (April 4) is going to be a virtual run or you can defer to 2021. I'll defer. The flu has killed my training over the past 3 weeks.

At least I got 3 half's in this season. I'll work on getting over what's left of the flu now and getting ready for warmer weather training. This thread has me a little more motivated to focus on my running, and either fortunately or unfortunately, it appears I will have some more free time to do just that over the next 8 weeks.

I was supposed to run three yesterday but didn’t. My heel/Achilles was awfully tender. It feels a little better today but is still a little sore. I may try and run a couple if I can.

I was really looking forward to this race. I was signed up for the 25K, but now that it will be in November, I might just do the 50K and scrap the Big Dog later that month.

Hit a grand for the year today. Hopefully there's a lot more where that came from. Cheers.

Nice job, Burt.

Since both of my races are canceled, and the flu derailed any good training for them anyway, I'm going to start from scratch and put in some benchmark runs over the next few days and work back up from there, and hopefully build some more speed into my running.

5k today, then followed with 8k, 10k and 15k probably every other day. I'll plug in a 13.1 in 4 weeks.

TA is going to have to do a solo run in the Bay St. Louis Replacement Beer Run sponsored by Lysol, Clorox Disinfectant Wipes, 3M and Waitr. I'll be cheering for him.
