I like the virtual idea and am interested in doing that. Me and thibtigerfan had already discussed doing something similar. I want that Top 500 poster at least!

Curious of the logistics and how they’ll track it, etc. Could be a money making deal if they linked up with Strava, etc... I would think.

Morning y'all. Drinking my morning coffee and about to hit a double bridge run (8.8 miles). Drank a few IPAs last night so waking up slow. Hope everyone is a speed demon today.

My Pikes Peak Ascent entry got confirmed

Time to run repeats on anything vaguely resembling a hill just to avoid more than 5-10 treadmill runs

8.8 miles in 1:16:51 (8:40/mile). Got a little faster, so that’s good.

It’s pretty humid out there.

I was anything but this today. My pace was a good bit off from my training runs. A little disappointed in the result, but at least they still let us race.

NYRR has virtual races all the time through Strava. Super easy and awesome.

Hoping for great runs for all who put the time in this weekend. I'm out for a couple of days with blisters from cryotherapy treatment for plantar warts. I'd post some pictures but I'm afraid it would lead to me being banned from the boards for a while.

I almost did not show up this morning because they sent out an email stating we would not have police officers manning the course Due to the governors mandate and our mayor shutting down all recreational facilities, and it would be a group run using our own safet precautions.

The weirdest part of getting back out there is losing the rhythm and flow of running...

Ran a regular 4 mile route with my neighbor for the first time back and it felt so far & normal landmarks felt twice as far away.

At this points..4 miles seemed like 5 uphill

Well...... 10K cancelled as it looks like everyone else’s was as well. Met my Saturday AM run group instead. Put in 10 miles with the easy pace group. I ended up as the only male in the group as all the other guys decided on 5 miles instead.

Knee is still twingey. Meeting with a run coach/PT next week.

What do y'all think about the following for a 3 - 4 month base training program leading up to marathon training in August?

Monday - gym, 3 - 4 miles
Tuesday - 4.4 mile fartlek or 1-2 miles for time (focusing on speed)
Wednesday - gym, 3 - 4 miles
Thursday - rest
Friday - rest
Saturday - 6 - 10 miles
Sunday - crosstraining for 30 - 60 minutes (probably biking or walking)

As for the gym, I plan to keep it simple:
- Squats, 3 x 10
- Hamstring work (probably leg curls)
- Bench/military press
- Arms

Separate your off days and run for time not distance. Would probably be better to run, off, run, run, off, run, cross train. I can't speak to your gym routine but the key to having a good fall season is consistency. It's about to get hot so you'll need to find a way to get out there.

The heat doesn't bother me too much. Granted, I'm not running at 2:30 PM or anything.

So you're saying:
Monday - run
Tuesday - off
Wednesday - run
Thursday - run
Friday - off
Saturday - run
Sunday - crosstrain

Did I get that right?

I would appreciate it if y'all would share some of your gym routines.

That looks better. I think you can optimize your recovery with that schedule. Ultimately, do what works for you when you get into it.

Bout to get round 2, electric boogaloo over here. Felt stiff this morning around 13-16 on a FFLR.

Fast finish long run. But it wasn't that fast or rather, fast enough.
