Welp, my trail race next weekend was still a go as of yesterday. But with the cdc recommending canceling 50 person or more events, I gotta assume it’s curtains.

Started a polar flow training program specifically for a 10k. Yesterday's run was supposed to be 5min in zone 2, 40 in zone 3, and 5 back in 2....

'Problem' is....it was a legit chore that required a ton of walking to stay in zone 3....

I have intervals 1-2 times per week where i get up into zones 4-5.....but i've found myself craving a good solid zone 4 run. Should i throw one in, or stick to and trust the program?

How's everyone dealing with the Spring racing season basically being cancelled? Kind of a kick in the dick. I guess it's sort of a relief not having to be tied to speed/tempo work weekly, but at the same time I'm ready to race and actually enjoy speed work. Just not sure if it's worth the wear and tear on my body with no racing in sight for many months. My Fall season was a wash also. Ah well, could always be worse, this is obviously minor in the grand scheme.

I’m running a half anyways next Saturday. There will be no fanfare at the end of the race and I won’t get a medal or a t-shirt, however

I’m sure I’ll do some time trials on my own and may meet up with a crew to do the CCC virtual, but it ain’t the same, ya know?

I don’t know if it’s a product of the weather, people rejecting governmental requests to stay indoors, etc., but I’ve seen a ton of people running since Friday.

What does running do our immune systems? It has to be good for us.

Heart rate training for beginners is a fool's errand. Weather, tiredness, temperature, stress, which direction the wind is blowing all matters. It's just not a very reliable way to train, and can impede your development as a runner. Try and go by feel. If your form disintegrates, stop.

Got a nice 13.1 in last night. Quicker than I thought I’d be at this point.

I'm certainly not a seasoned pro...I've been pretty steady for about a year, and I've certainly improved times from 30ish 5K to 27min...my 9 min pace 3-4 mile runs just haven't gotten any easier at all and my heart rate typically high zone 4, and even getting into zone 5 for those....

So...I started the heart rate specific program. I'm more than willing to battle through if it will pay off, but I'm also happy to just work in an interval workout or 2 per week instead of just plodding along like i've pretty much been doing...

It's helpful for mental stress and pushes more oxygenated blood through the body. I bet that helps to strengthen our immune systems.

Train on pace or feel unless there is a medical reason for you to be under a certain hear rate. Heart rate during a workout has little value, measuring heart rate to measure endurance progress has more value.

Just got the word I'm work from home for next month & I'm going to use this time to work as hard as possible , within my reasonable limits, to become a better runner.

I'm customer facing, and without customers, there is no actual work to do so at worst I'll have to listen to a conference call while out running.

Did my yearly physical last Friday and the blood test results came back today. Turns out I'm anemic. Got another test in a month. In the meantime, I'll make some dietary adjustments. Doesn't seem to be an issue for now.

Wow. I can’t imagine what your performance may be when you have a proper number of red blood cells delivering oxygen.

Hope everything turns out ok.
