My 5K this Sat was cancelled, well postponed. Just as good as cancelled for me, as it’s already approaching “too hot to race” temps. That said, I may run a fast 5K Sat am anyway, depending on how I feel. Spring racing fuct.

FWIW-I got an e-mail from Hattiesburg 1/2 people and they said it's still on (April 4), but they'll make a final decision whether to postpone to the fall by Friday, March 20.

They officially canceled my race this Saturday.

So incredibly bummed out.

I am sorry bro. That sucks. Is there any way you can replicate your race on your own?

Nope. The only time they open up the quarry to the public is for this race.

I'll find somewhere to run. The weather is going to be too nice to just do nothing.

I'm not going to be the only disappointed racer on this board this spring with the way they're cancelling stuff.

Oh well. I’m running 13.1 next Saturday anyways.

At least we picked a hobby that we don't need to be around any people to do it. It's preferable to me that way, actually. Other than racing, I much prefer to run alone. Quarantine can't stop us!

My nephew works for Vulcan here in Bham. I was trying to talk him into the one here. Looks like it’s moot now.

My 10K is on for Saturday. It’s more of a fun run and drinkfest than anything else. Which is fine with me since I’m getting over this knee deal anyway.

Put in 3 miles today. 8:45 pace in the new shoes. Felt good. Knee is still a little twingey. Taking Friday off to stretch and recoup. 10K will be a nice easy run. Not looking to set any PRs.

Just got the email my 50k at oak mountain next weekend might be cancelled or postponed. Doesn’t look like it will happen as scheduled. Also saw Montgomery half is announcing today.

Have y’all heard about this race in Bay St. Louis next weekend? The Lysol Clorox Charmin Cottonelle Tornado Alley Memorial Race for the Cure Fun Run Bay St. Louis Half Marathon?

The field is STACKED. The two participants will stride into eternal athletics glory with times hovering around the two hour mark. The course will be flat, fast, and disinfected. I’ve also heard there will be medals presented to the top two finishers.

Y’all should sign up!

I hear rescheduling is a definite for my half. They are going to move it to May or June. Pass. You cannot do a damn half in summer temps, people will die.

The half marathon DSJ and I were supposed to run was not rescheduled. However, all registrants are automatically registered for next year’s race.

It's going to be a virtual event. Or we can defer our registrations, which is probably what we're going to do. Got the email tonight.
