Busted out the BOB and took the baby for a 5 mile run this morning. Nice and slow and she did great. “Sang” most of the way.
My fitness has fallen the last month due to sick ness, travel, and just life.
Want to run a 25k with Polar Pop in April so need to get back on the wagon.

It stinks that you ended up with a cast instead of a boot but it’s better than having surgery.
Hopefully the time passes quickly.

I've take a few days off this week. I have to get out the door today and get back to my weight training. I can feel the lazy coming on strong.

Put in 18 on the bike this week and 9 on the feet. I'm preferring the bike right about now, as the runner's high has been replaced by feelings of fright, anxiety, uncertainty, etc. It sucks; I don't wish this on any endurance junkie like most of us... Emo off.
I'm going much faster than I should be (9:00), but I can't seem to force myself to slow down. It's like my form goes to shite and I get heavier on my feet and seems to make it harder on my body. BnG suggested I look into a max cushion shoe. Me walking into the running store like "yeah man, I'm looking for a shoe that'll make me run slower.." Derp!
I'm just trying to get one "long" run each week, going up by 5 mins each week type thing. Did 35 mins today.

Anyone have experience with Hal Higdon’s 3/1 method? Basically, running a slow pace for an hour followed by a race pace for a couple of miles. I’ve been doing 6 miles at a 140 heart rate followed by 2 miles at my best 5k pace.

Patellar tendonitis.
I’ve used the Mueller velcro straps below my knees while running for this and they have worked very well. I also slide on knee compression sleeves after a run of 6 miles or more, and that also helps. That’s more for stabilizing everything after a run.

I'll pass 1400 mi for the year this week, last year I totaled 1071 mi. Needless to say I've stepped it up this year. I'll probably finish somewhere around 1450 mi.
Comparing last year to this year is night and day in regards to total mileage and pace. Longest run of 2018 was 14.1 mi, this year, 26.2.

We got 6 inches of snow. I usually run anyhow, but the road was slippery as hell this morning. That makes 3 days in a row of no running for me. I know it won;t matter much because I am between training cycles, but I feel antsy knowing I am losing even a little bit of fitness.

I’m at 1178. I should Be able to squeeze in 22 in the next couple weeks to hit 1200. Not bad, considering my original goal was 1K. Wish it coulda been much more, but thankful to be running at all!

I finished at 1261 for my 1st full year which is about 24/week.
Since I dont know how much of 2020 I'll miss I'm going to set a per/week goal between 28-32. I'll be better adjusted next summer which is where I slipped.

You’re a damn boss bud. So proud of you for getting back out there.
My fall was really bad. Sometimes my travel for work is a net positive on my running, sometimes it’s really drains it. This fall was a drain.
I had to make so many “do I want to go run or spend time with my family and not be a shite dad because I’m about to be gone for 4 days” decisions the last 3 months that it really knocked down my average. Obviously my family comes first but it has just been a hard few months. The sweet spot was before my oldest got to JH and started doing school sports. That’s wrecked my schedule across the board. I wouldn’t trade it but it is a good mirror to how selfish I am about me time.

I’m currently at 1325 for the year. I’d like to hit 1400 but I don’t see myself making it. I initially set a goal of 1000 miles which was double of what I’d ever done before then reset it to 1200. I’m grateful to have stayed mostly healthy.
@ 3nOut: It’s tough balancing me time with family time. I always put my kids and family first but was still told more than once this year I had a problem with running ??.

We had that argument last year. I learned a good balance of making sure I didn’t run when family time was possible. This year family time decreased a lot so I had to adjust.

This is why I go at 4 am. Unless I'm going beyond 16 miles, I always get back before the kids are up. I've just adjusted my sleep to accommodate.

I'm training for my first marathon in February. I ran a half race Sunday and did pretty well. My right foot is giving me problems on the ball. Feels like its in the metatarsal joints. I'm going to force myself to take a week off so hopefully I can heal up, but it's going to be hard. We shall see.

Been there. Using Smart Feet (blue) in most all of my shoes and switching from Asics to Brooks Adrenaline GTS helped. I also avoid shoes with soles that are too flexible when not running. Using Blue Emu also helped.

I'm running in Ride ISO 2's now... I'm not sure if this is something that came about from the new Ride's bc it started about 2 weeks after I got them. However prior to those I was running on a decade old worn out pare of Mizuno's. Plus I'm ramping up my mileage so much for the marathon training.
I'm thinking it's just overuse so I'm going to take 10 days off over the holidays and just bike. I hope this isn't something that will linger.
ETA this has been going on for a couple weeks and I've taken 3 days off, but on my long run it creeps back everytime.
