RSande - I feel ya Brah. Any access to gait analysis once you rehab? My facility just got the OptoGait in; anxious to try it out. Did the gait analysis “pre stroke” with a rehab doc (Physiatrist). Was pretty cool. Will be doing some more once I get a few more post stroke miles in and the go ahead to ramp up the intensity. Happy Holidays to all y’all. Been an interesting year; here’s to 2020!

Merry Christmas running crew. Got a nice 10k in this morning while the kids were playing and adults were playing spades. Nice slow pace and got to yell Merry Christmas to all the families outside playing with toys. Warmed the cockles of my heart.

I’ll try to crunch some numbers from the Strava group early next week when I’m at work.

Ran just 3.5 miles this afternoon in a hilly neighborhood-which is a nice change of pace. I love my family, but it was nice to get out of the house for a bit.

I bought myself a another pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS 19’s yesterday on clearance to put up for the spring. I love these shoes. I picked up another Adidas running cap, too. Those things are indestructible.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I put in 8 miles yesterday. New route, mostly up hill. It was hot and I was mildly hung over. The heat and hills killed me. Turned in 9:40/mile there and back with an untimed break at Starbucks.

I went today with low expectations. Honestly, I thought I’d just be putting in a recovery run. Turned in my best 5K time ever with 7:12/mile. As I was going and the app was giving me updates, I couldn’t believe it. Felt great. Really pumped because the 7/mile has been my goal since I got started 6 months ago.

GF got me a mug with my St Jude’s bib and half marathon finishing time on it. Thoughtful and awesome gift.

Otherwise, I picked up a nice full zip light weight Adidas jacket from Marshall’s for $30 and a pair of Zoom Fly SP’s for $50 at Ross.

Got some running socks and a cool howling wolf orange running shirt. No run Christmas day but got in an easy 4 on Christmas Eve and then my traditional barefoot run of 2 miles with my boys and the dog. Hoping to get back into some consistent running over the next few days.

Hoka torrents for the trails

Garmin forerunner 945. This watch is a beast. Coming from Apple Watch it’s a massive upgrade for running.

Just passed my annual mileage goal of 1,565 (30mi/wk). I'm most proud of the fact that I went two consecutive days without running only five or six time this year.

Got around to weighing myself for the first time in a couple of years. Weighed in six or so pounds less than my normal, steady weight. I need to figure out how to gain some weight while continuing to run. I don't currently take any supplements and eat everything in sight. I'm thinking I need to consider the addition of some whey protean to my diet. If I do start taking whey protein, I need some clarification as to the best time of day to do so. Anyone have a similar story or recommendations?

'grats on the mileage goal Brah; you are the model of consistency. Not the prettiest model I've ever seen, but a model nonetheless.

Easy answer is to definitely get the protein in soon after running/workout, feeding the muscles and aiding recovery. Mix in some simple carbs as well. Told you before, but you should mix in some strength training (even if only bodyweight stuff), it should help add a few pounds... and not bonk on bridges.

Yeah, some of my biggest mileage weeks came in random periods in which I wasn't training for anything. Those were also periods of time in which my children were least active with their shite.

Mom... is that you?!

Stay in your lane, bro. You're only my daddy on the road.
