Knee Sleeves

Decided that I'm going to pick up some knee sleeves. Periodically, I have some knee pain after heavy squats, so I'm looking for extra support. I'll only wear these during squats and possibly deadlifts. Any suggestions? 5mm or 7mm?
No history of knee problems, but I'm old AF.

I like my SBD knee sleeves, I don’t remember there being options when I bought them but looking at the website mine are just the regular 7mm

I have 7mm that I wear for those exact purposes

It’s possible your knee pain could be associated with your age, but have someone check your squat for you. It may just be a movement issue. SBD makes good sleeves. I also recommend checking out Cerberus. Their websites should give descriptions and give you an idea of which one is best for you. I only use a simple knit compression sleeve from Nordic Lifting. I like them a lot.

Been using blue rehbands for years. Won't squat without them

I have SBD 5mm sleeves, and they fit great. You don’t really need 7mm, and they might be too thick for your liking.

Would be happy to, but I’m not sure who I would get to check it. There’s a trainer at my gym sometimes, so I may ask him. I’m making sure knees don’t flare out, squatting slightly past parallel, and toes are flared out slightly more than a natura standing position.

Heavy squats? 7 mm.
Heavy is relative. For me my current best is 230x8x3. Not currently doing any low rep weights, mostly out of fear of injury.

I'll second the Nordic Lifting 7 mm sleeves. Seem on my first pair tore while putting on after only two or three uses, reached out to the company, new pair sent and they've been great.
I also purchased a pair from WRX (think that's company) after rec from poster on here. They're a Louisiana company and I've liked them as well to keep in the rotation.

I have some Gangsta and slingshot knee sleeves by Mark Bell. The strong sleeves would be in between these 2 in thickness
I like the gangsta's but they are a huge pita to get on and off . The strong sleeves may would have been a happy medium there

Is gangsta new or relatively new? Strong was the strongest they had when I purchased. I have the gangsta wraps and those are the best wraps I've ever had.

Would not buy based on name only.

They likely don't make stubby sizes anyway. It would be like a wetsuit pant.

They've been around for a year or 2. They're thicker than what is allowed in powerlifting meets fwiw. The Strong ones are legal

The 5mm came out last year so still pretty new.
