Many reasons I have my kids do this. But what’s your opinion.

Winter and summer

Grass,concrete, gravel.

I heard it’s good for their immune systems
I heard a lot that third world children don’t have foot problems due to barefoot
It toughens their feet.

Overall a huge positive in my opinion.

I lived barefoot till the age of 12. Rode my bike barefoot, walked on clam shells barefoot, ran on concrete barefoot. I have no foot problems so I would say it can’t hurt.

My PT told me that 3rd world folks have a fraction of the developed world's foot issues due to:

The Strength that barefoot walking produces....and
The 'callusing' of not only the pads, but also the lig/tendons to their attachments.

My 2 year old loves being outside and loves being barefoot. Feels like I could learn a thing or two from him.

My boy absolutely hates wearing shoes. Even the wide ones that can accommodate his Hobbit feet.

My 1.5 year old absolutely wants to be outside all day long and absolutely hates wearing shoes. She takes them off as soon as we put them on.

So if there is any truth to it helping their immune system, she should rarely get sick.

If you can't walk barefoot down a gravel driveway to get the mail, then you are soft.

I know a few people who say going barefoot is good for your feet. They say that shoes become a crutch.

not so much tapeworms etc.

but getting bacteria/fungus/virus on/in your skin and feet is what helps the body identify and learn to fight these at an early age.

that's my angle that i hope will benefit them in the future......along with the Bible, discipline, nutrition and fitness.

Had a pediotrist (foot dr?) tell me never put your kids in solid sole shoes until at least 2-3 yes old. It strengthens their feet, develops the arch and prevents plantar fasciitis

Hookworks. Walking barefoot in the yard is how you get hookworms.

Your children will grow up weird. You can stop this now and they won’t be called hippy.

At 35 I’m still barefoot most the time around the house or outside, especially walking on hard surfaces. As a kid I never wore shoes. Just didn’t like to

My kids are most the time as well

It pays off bc I never get blisters, when out in the field or doing ruck marches.

Couple weeks ago we humped 20 miles in one day for an exercise and my feet were completely fine. A little sore but nothing other than that

By day three of the exercise dudes feet were destroyed, mine were fine.
