How much exercise are you doing? I lost 32 lbs (224 to 192) doing a version of keto last year but was still skinny fat.

I put a bunch back on and have started back up. Down 218 to 208 in a few weeks. May really need to hit the gym.
Well, that's the thing. Workout a little, lose weight. Workout a lot, weight loss stalls as muscle builds. I have weighed less since I started, but like you said, skinny fat. As I've worked out more, the loss hasn't happened, and I went up 5-6 pounds.

The stubborn stuff is my love handles and the fat settled in my chest. That's going to take a lot of time and effort. If anyone has suggestions for an exercise routine for an older guy with occasional bad lower back issues, let me know. Right now, I'm just walking/running and using a Cybex rotation of 17 different machines, and upping the weight on those a little at a time.

One of my favorite meals is grilled chicken breast over spaghetti and sauce. Pasta is a great source for simple and complex carbs. Don't eat a whole plateful of pasta 3 times a week for dinner (unless you are a bodybuilder) or eat tons of it for lunch if you have a desk job.

Can you eat regular pasta on this diet? I couldn't go without pasta at least once a week
on strict Keto no. You are trying to get your trick your body into a state ketosis (sp?). That means like 4g of carbs per day. That’s pretty strict for me to handle socially so if like you i have a carb I have to eat I want it to be worth it. I’m not wasting my carbs on hamburger buns, hot dog buns, pancakes or waffles. I make homemade pasta every now and then and it’s something I enjoy so I eliminate the carbs I don’t care about so I can eat the ones I do.

Carbs will find you and sometimes like at a party you don’t have much of a choice so like yesterday for lunch I had five guys wrapped in lettuce and no fries for lunch. Went to a party last night and the host had some homemade pizza - I was able to have that slice and not feel too bad since I had not wasted my carbs earlier in the day.

I use spaghetti squash now. Easy to prepare and tasty as well.
Much fewer simple carbs.

Keto has gotten my wife into pre-marriage shape, after three kids I never thought I’d see that body again.

Gross and completely unnecessary. Simple carbs at the right time and in moderation = good for lean muscle building.

Yea Asia is full of fat people with all that rice they consume and Europe is completely obese with all the bread and pasta they eat.

I started Keto in July. I was 220 when i started. This morning i was 191. No sugar, bread, pasta, potatoes etc.
My BP is down from 130-90 to 110/60 which is a little low. I’m anxious to see how it affects everything else.

I was, too.

*I must admit, I would really love a bowl of etoufee, but the carbs are just a no-no, right now. Once I hit my desired weight, I'll add a little here and there.

And that rice is white. Brown rice puzzles them.

This should be fact to what people using EBT should be required to eat.
frick not only giving them free food, but then we have to pay health care for their shitty overweight bodies.

Congrats!
I've lost 40 lbs. since June.
Traded out sugar for Stevia, gave up potatoes, rice, bread.
Was kind of lethargic for a few days after giving up sugar, but afterward, my focus became razor sharp, my energy level increased dramatically and I found my chronic indigestion was gone. Haven't had to take any medicine for indigestion since.

Everything you said here is FALSE.

#1 you aren’t tricking your body into ketosis. You are putting your body into ketosis and it is using fat as it’s primary fuel source instead of the glycogen from carbs.

#2 4g of carbs is laughable. It varies by person how any carbs before you are kicked out of ketosis but the baseline for everyone to be safe is <20g of NET carbs daily. Some people can eat up to 50g of NET carbs and stay in ketosis it’s all about your personal body and how fat adapted you are.
