1540 Calories
163 Protein
118 Carbs
53 Fat

I'm 6'2" 250 lbs (heaviest I've ever been) and workout roughly 3 times a week. I want to lose 25 or so pounds.

Too low for what?

You'll lose weight quickly.. but you'll be miserable. Your workouts may start to suffer after a few weeks. Not a sustainable model, imo.

I'm the same height and weight, 10 weeks into a 'cut' and still at 2250 calories/day. Started at 2600 calories.

My suggestion: Eat more and be okay with losing the weight more slowly. You should be able to eat ~2400 calories/day and lose 1-2lb per week.

You need to exercise more often than 3 days a week

I agree. This also takes time which ingrains habit. Plus it's just the most sustainable approach.

Probably not sustainable but I’ll try it for a few weeks and slowly add calories.

Depends on what he's doing.

3x a week of crossfit or full body lifting routines is fine.

3x a week of simply walking.. probably would benefit from more.

Eat more protein and ear more calories than that. That will be hard to sustain long term.

1540 is a good number. If you stick to it you will lose weight. Intermittent fast until 11am or 12pm and split your calories something like 60/40 between dinner and lunch.

The only other problem with 1540 is when his metabolism invariably adapts, lowering calories again will be tough. He'll have to add more exercise.

1540 for a 250 lb person is a huge drop. I don’t think that’s sustainable. Especially if he lifts weights. I think he should eat a little more, and be okay with losing weight at a slower rate.

I would suggest eating around 1900 calories and increasing protein intake. When he loses some weight, then he can reevaluate.

Keto man, keto.

I am down 12.6 pounds in a month, working out (lifting only) 3x a week.

If you want to lose weight, clean the diet up. I am at anywhere between 2000 - 2,500 calories and 15-50 carbs a day.

When I hit my target weight, I will un-keto some. I doubt I ever return to the amount of sugar intake I had before though.

It's all about the calories. A "cleaner" diet will promote satiation and health, but he will lose weight at 1500 calories whether he does keto or not.

Keto would probably help him be less hungry at 1500 calories, though.

Hard to say something is too low without knowing everything and knowing personality but in general, slower weight loss is better overall.

Do you have an idea of your daily calorie usage when not exercising? I would take that and add 200-300 calories a day and exercise 3-4 times a week looking to burn between 500-1000 calories a time. This should get you a weekly deficient that will get you the weight loss over a few months. Keep in mind that in days you exercise you will continue to burn calories after the workout.

1500??? Yeah, that's crash dieting territory. I wouldn't go lower than 500 below maintenance. For most people that's around 2500 calories.

I support the add more protein and be ok with losing a bit slower. The goal isn't weight loss, IMO, it's sustainable weight loss.

Even in your posts, you say you're not planning on sticking to that calorie count long term.

no its awful and not really healthy

sounds more like a quick fix than a practical approach to shedding pounds.

I’m almost your exact size. I am on Avatar Nutrition and am at the end of a cut and am at 2000 calories. So yeah, I’d say 1500 is way too low starting out if your doing any substantial exercise.

was an article in a leftist media outlet a few years back about how drinking lots of milk is some secret white supremacist signal, because supposedly they believe white people can digest milk better than non white people.

for calories. yes I know absurd dude

anyways. so you've got some person (the person that took the picture and made the caption) that is afraid because they believe any lie they are fed as long as the lie scares them.

this person clearly believed the lie and is eager to be afraid of anything... including people drinking milk.

it would be funny if it weren't such a fricking joke.

this is why I come here for the occasional nutrition advice

@lsu,777 seems to be knowledgeable

I agree with the other poster too, guys probably just trying to bulk up by drinking a gallon of milk a day (GOMAD).
