Way better than vegan or vegetarian, but as much as I love meat I have to have balance.

Are you talking about Campbell's book, The China Study, or his data, Diet, Life-style and Mortality in China?
His data are just correlations and nothing more. There is no hard data in the collection.
His book is his opinion on the matter, not hard science.

I'm not advocating removing vegetables from one's diet; I have 0 desire to do that, and I personally think vegetables play a large role in a balanced diet.
That said, the China study's raw data is all correlation, no causation. On top of this, the "experts" that tend to use the China study to push their own dietary beliefs typically do so from a heavily skewed vegan perspective, and they will cherry-pick stats and values to prove their points. It's not a good study to cite as meat being bad.

oh i guess you were. i just didn't want to waste time describing what a shite study (actually it was more the poor interpretation of result, in the book, than the study itself) if you were kidding.
It showed absolutely no increase in disease/mortality in animal v. plant-based food.
Epidemiological studies in general have been shite. I can link a bunch of stuff.

It's been catching on, oddly enough. Mark Bell, and his brother Chris, have been eating all meat for a little bit now and they love it.
well they are also known for taking tons of roids

The best doctor advice is shop the perimeter of the grocery store. Fresh veggies fruit meat yogurt etc. Avoid processed/frozen foods
Only use frozen veggies if you have too
sadly the quality of produce at my local Walmart often forces us to buy frozen green beans and broccoli.

Whaaaa? That much red meat will give you a heart attack.
I've cut out ALL red meats. Chicken, turkey, fish/seafood, with plenty of low-startchy greens and fiber (with vegetables or rice protein-heavy smoothies) is the way to go.
Having a healthy heart will keep you around a looooong time.
Here's some good commentary on how the cancer aspect is bullshite to:
quote:
he World Health Organization (WHO) announced recently that processed meats, such as salami and bacon, are on par with cigarettes as a
“convincing”
cause of cancer and that fresh red meat, like steak,
is a “probable” cause.
These statements overstate the evidence and mislead the public about their cancer risk from eating meat. The determination of whether a substance causes cancer has traditionally relied upon three sources of evidence: animal models, data looking at possible mechanisms, and epidemiology. In the case of meat, the WHO committee determined that the evidence from animals was inadequate
–
simply put, feeding animals a diet rich in red meat does not give them cancer. The mechanistic evidence was strong-to-moderate, but these data alone cannot determine a mutagenic agent. Driving the WHO conclusion was the epidemiological data. Epidemiology is a science that can establish associations (being in hospital is associated with death) but seldom cause and effect (being in hospital does not cause death). The great success story of epidemiological science was its ability to link smoking to cancer, with WHO designating tobacco as a
“convincing”
carcinogen in 1986. In that case, heavy smokers had a 9-to-25 times greater risk of contracting lung cancer than did non-smokers,
i
a
“relative risk” big enough to
give researchers confidence that the association was a real. Ever since, however, standards for these risks in policy making have been dropping. T
his week’s decision
s on meat were based on relative risks of 1.17 to 1.18, a tiny fraction of those for smoking.

Because frozen veggies, believe it or not, contain more of the nutrients that are flash frozen into them near the time they are picked. The fresh veggies in the store lose out on some, though I couldn't tell you how much.

I was coming to post these numbers, without looking, I think the numbers related to processed meats were 1.21 or 1.4(?). Anything under 2 is considered scientifically insignificant and should not be considered as a correlation.
A better explanation of RR

quote:Oh, sorry, I thought you were saying the opposite. Yeah, vegetables in general are just not very bio-available in terms of quoted micronutrients. Meat, on the other hand, delivers the goods that it says it's delivering.

Mark is, but not Chris. He was a pill head and alcoholic.
That has what to do with their diet? I am not going all meat but it is interesting to watch them experiment.
I think Mark's lost some muscle mass lately, he's been in a deficit for a while. He still admits to taking some testosterone though.
