Losing weight is so much easier than society would have you believe.

Start with tracking calories in and calories out. Don’t change anything else with diet or exercise. Report back what you find after 4-6 days.

I use the app Mike’s Macros for calories in and a Fitbit Charge 5 for calories out.

*You need all the facts before making a plan

I agree with this completely. Start counting calories for a week to see what your current intake is. It could be 5K+, in which case shaving 500 calories per day plus walking could be easy and very impactful.

1. Order the gastrus probiotic and inulin right now and it’ll be here by Friday. Get a yogurt maker, I use my instapot. You need to make gurt asap
2. Go to Walgreens and ask the pharmacist for a box of bronkaid

Also if you wanna go to the gym with me I will show you how to lift weights

Make yourself a priority. Hang with like minded people. Nothing motivates like results. Lots of good advice here. Remember that you’re worth it. Some people eat from being depressed.

Calories in/calories out sounds simple. It’s not. Especially when you are eating calorie dense food. Not all calories are the same. You could probably eat 2200 calories a day and lose weight. You probably think 2200 calories isn’t a lot of food, and you are right if you are eating “junk”/calorie dense food. Try eating 2200 calories of protein and rice/potatoes/veggies. You will likely be full before you hit 2200 calories.

I'm not sure what your financial resources are, but consider hiring a trainer and perhaps paying for meal preps. Your mental energy will be needed to embrace a lifestyle change and having some of those pieces "done" for you, will help you get jump started. Having a trainer can help with accountability. You're less likely to skip a workout if you have paid for it and someone is expecting you - research has proven this.
Then once you get moving in a steady, righted direction, you can then invest some of your energy into the cooking or workout planning on your own.
Think of it this way...if you pay $500-1000 per month on this....you can pay now and invest in your health, or pay later. I assure you, you will pay later. Good luck to you!

I think so many people get into a goal oriented weight loss or fitness regime. They diet and exercise for a month or two and when the results are not immediate they lose interest and go back to doing what they were doing. I find more success comes to people that are process oriented. Today I am going to exercise, mediate, eat better. Asking myself if a healthy person would eat this or that, take the stairs instead of the elevator (even if only for a couple of flights), park away from the store and walk. Some days are better than others, but if you have a process oriented mindset the goals will be achieved. You can form habits, but they are very difficult. Be willing accept that steady small loss is better than large losses followed by gains. 1-2 pounds per week is doable. In a year, that would be 50-100 lbs.

We all have our struggles. You've taken Step 1, which is one of the hardest steps to make. You have admitted you aren't satisfied with yourself, you need help, and you want to change. That's really freaking awesome. Make a commitment to yourself to do better each week, and don't beat yourself up when you have a bad one.

Lots of great advice and support in this thread. I'd start by cutting down on your biggest vice. For example,
if you drink sodas, start with only drinking a few per week. If you snack a lot, only eat a single serving (lunch size) package at a time. Make a noticeable, but measurable change in your habits. Then whittle those vices down to special occasions. Go for a 20 minute walk 3 times per week. Gradually change your habits and lifestyle so you don't burn out or regress after a bit of time. And don't give up or revert when you "fail" yourself every so often. Make yourself proud of who you are and who you want to be.

Lots of good advice.

One I will add is…Do not underestimate your attitude and mindset.

Good: Changing behaviors
Better: Changing to healthy attitude and mindset (and behaviors)
Best: Healthy Lifestyle

Reward small wins of change
Don’t eliminate (delicious food) but do rebalance
Do not miss moving, especially 1st few weeks

Good luck!

Get the MyFitnessPal app to track what you eat and the MapMyRun app to track your workouts. They link together. Use the advice in this thread in these apps.

I'd do the opposite. Cutting out the biggest vice is very difficult. Target some stuff that you could easily do without first. Build up to the stuff you're more attached to.

Some easy steps that won’t feel like a drag are drinking water and only water and LOTS of it. Get a large water bottle that holds a huge quantity and keep it nearby and every time you think about it, chug half or more. Don’t drink anything else at all except water, you will lose 15 pounds alone from drinking a shite done of water. Combine this with some walking through your neighborhood or on a treadmill. This will kickstart your journey in a couple of weeks you will have already made progress that will boost your confidence. If you can get through two weeks, next thing you know you’ll be through a month, then 2, then 4. You’ll have people complimenting you in no time!

Lots of good advice given on the X's and O's. For me I have to get in the zone, get that mind right. I always repeat to myself "what's done in the dark will come to light"

So when I get to work after a 415 alarm, trip to the gym from 445-545, back home to shower and get dressed and then be at work for 7 and one of my coworkers says oh man I couldn't wake up this morning I was almost late or something similar, I just give them that Jack Nicholson nod. Our bodies are our biggest craft, work on it daily. If you totally bonk today, then put in that work to tomorrow. Get it! A year from now you will thank yourself.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as your fat arse. I know I can lose wieght when and if I put my mind to it, but sticking to it if often the problem when I have no real motivation.

Yesterday I started a game at https://www.dietbet.com/. I chose this one to do: LINK

It provides a little accountability. You bet like $35, and if you met the goal, you split the pot with the other people that met the goal.

What really motivates me is backpacking in the Grand Canyon. If you don't prepare and get into shape, you will feel mesiriable and maybe even hurt yourself permanently. I've gone fat before and the pain and suffering is real. So for me, to get truly motivated, it damn near takes the fear of death.

So plan a Grand Canyon backpacking trip. You have to apply for a backcountry permit 4 1/2 months in advance. So I use about five months to get into shape.
