And that snacks help your brain work better for standardized tests in school?

Healthy small snacks throughout the day absolutely help my brain function better.

Regulates my blood sugar and metabolism. Eating almonds is the best.

Equally impressive that we’ve normalized dessert for breakfast.

Not that I've verified any of this but I've read that it was possibly the grain? lobby that paid a Harvard professor to who then falsified a research paper which ended up being the basis for the food pyramid.

I may have made that all up.

False.

But for an athlete that relies kn strength breakfast is important because calories and protein are important.

Have you ever seen what they did with orange juice? It was all an ad campaign in the 50s or 60s that took off and made everyone start drinking it for breakfast.

The more meals you eat the more money food and beverage companies make.

It all depends. I'd argue that breakfast might be my most important meal of the day. I wake up early and lift weights, then eat a huge breakfast right after I finish my workout. My breakfast, lunch and dinner all have roughly the same amount of calories. So, why couldn't it be the most important meal of the day?

Not everyone workouts in the morning nor has the opportunity to eat a huge breakfast.

If someone lifts around lunch and has a huge meal after wouldn't you say that lunch is the most important meal of the day?

If someone lifts around dinner and has a huge meal after wouldn't you say that dinner is the most important meal of the day?

Having 3 meals of the exact same size is irrelevant as well as what time it is eaten.

Yes, I'd agree with both of those statements as well. My point was that it all depends how your day is structured.

So eating a large meal at 9:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 9:00 PM is fine?

No I agree with you fully. It was a concerted lobbying effort by sugar, corn, and grain type industries to promote their shitty products and villainize fat. The whole “complete breakfast” charade was promoted by people like General Mills to sell sugary, refined grain type shite. As a kid in the early 90’s, we were taught to avoid eating things like eggs and bacon, but yet school kids were allowed to drink poison like sunny delight and fruit loops.

There’s nothing wrong with breakfast per se. but the whole “breakfast is most important meal of the day” is a product of advertising. Now that science has emerged favorably towards fasting and healthy fats, that campaign has been exposed for what it is. Still, I do think what you eat for breakfast - or don’t eat for breakfast - sets the tone for the rest of your day.

I don’t eat over a 12 hour window (typically a 4-6 hour window) but everyone has different schedules.

Which brought me to my initial point I may not have construed properly which is I believe the general public is pushed to eat 3 equally balanced meals in regards to calories/macronutrients where I don’t think it’s practical nor as important in the grand scheme of things.

If you have a larger breakfast or larger dinner depending on what works for you do it. Don’t feel the pressure to eat lunch and then get tired at 2:30 everyday just because “everyone else is eating”.

I think that's the point of OP. The reason your blood sugar and glucose metabolism needs "regulating" regularly is because you eat too often. Sort of circular.

I've found that limiting my feeding window over the last 3-4 years has made me seldom snacky/hungry. My hunger is much more, ok, it's time to eat something. Instead of that sort of frantic hunger or craving.

That said, I love breakfast food and want to move my window a little earlier and eating breakfast food mid am. I know that's cultural, and I do enjoy breakfast for dinner, but I just prefer breakfast in am.

Hijack rant over.

I think it just depends on the person.

I function much better in the morning when I eat something. I'm not eating pancakes and syrup, admittedly. I eat bacon, eggs, and coffee and that holds me for a good 4-5 hours. Then I start snacks and lunch until around 2 hours before bed. I usually am only fasting for 8-9 hours.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. If I don't eat breakfast my impulse control is nonexistent when I decide to eat.

I love how we get down voted for disagreeing based on performance. Lol

I been doing IF for over 5 years now, before most have even heard of it, but its mugging by a way to control total caloric intake. So stupid people by into it enthusiasts the same mentality the op talks about with the who breakfast is most important meal of the day.

Bottom line is breakfast is important for athletes, not because it's special but because most its a chance to ingest calories and athletes need lots of calories.

Breakfast CAN BE the most important meal of the day depending on calories in/out on the day prior.

A lot more calories in than out on Tuesday means Wednesday's breakfast isn’t necessary

Little calories in vs high calories out (burned) means breakfast the next day will be pretty important.

Also it’s be proven that high brain activity burns calories so fast digesting carbs during standardized testing would help to prevent fatigue

I’m normally not really hungry for breakfast unless I eat dinner really early. Typically just do a meal replacement shake or bacon and eggs.
