Doctors of the OT. Question about costochondritis?

I've had chronic pain around my upper stomach and sternum area for years now. After going through a bunch of test, upper GI,CT scans, colonoskpy, etc. They are telling me that I have costochondritis. Treatment calls for anxiety meds and/or other pain meds to treat symptoms. I was told surgery isn't an option. My question is are there any other treatments I can try because I'm really tired of this crap. The meds only provide temporary relief.

Had the same thing happen to me a few years ago. It felt like a belt was tightened around my chest. The gave me some tramadol and it eventually went away after a week or two. The doctor said stress can cause it but who knows

How long did you have it?

I strained that cartilage one time by sneezing while laying on my side in a weird position. It HURT LIKE HELL for about 3 weeks. No pain meds worked. tramadol helped me sleep through the pain but I got bad dry mouth that would wake me up.
Prayers sent.

That's what they call fibromyalgia for men.

Had it during law school, or at least that was the best guess. My PCP at the time sort of sat me down and explained why what I was feeling wasn't my heart and how to differentiate - and that honestly made the biggest difference. My pain wasn't bad, it was just very unnerving because of where it was. I felt like my chest was just going to seize up at any moment for weeks.
It went away after a few months as a chronic thing. My sternum is sensitive still for that or some other reason, so if my toddler jumps on my chest or whatever it'll be aggravated for a few days. But having dealt with it for years it doesn't bother me as much.

Based on my arm chair eval as a non-physician, it sounds like your xiphoid process is stabbing your liver.

Costochondritis lasting longer than a year is uncommon.
I hope some of those tests and lab work include auto-immune workups for rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, or systemic lupus erythematosus. Also need to rule-out pulmonary emboli, pleurisy, pericarditis, tumor/masses, gallstones, thyroid levels...
Physical therapy may help to improve posture, sleep lab for sleep disorders/OSA...
Good luck...

That's not an option.

Bingo.
Its anxiety, OP. The doctor is more than happy to continue doing needless tests to extract $$ from you for a non-issue.
