Anyone done it or currently on it, what’s a good grocery list?
What can you eat? What can’t you eat? Any snack options?
How tough is cardio and lifting when on it?
How big of a difference did you see?

Eggs, grassfed butter, Costco grassfed burger patties, chuck roast, ribeyes, ground beef, salt, occasionally some bacon. That was my list. I couldn’t stomach fish or chicken.
You can eat anything that directly comes from an animal if you do strictly carnivore: eggs, meat, salt, and some people do dairy. I skipped out on seasonings and only used salt.
I don’t love bacon but it is probably your best snack option.
Cardio and lifting were very very tough for me at first. Getting your electrolytes and water will be jmportant if you want to dial that in.
I went from 194-174 pretty quickly. Shite straight water outside of a 3-4 day window at week 2. Mental clarity significantly improved when I eventually got into ketosis. I only did it for 30 days but it was a pretty tough physical and psychological journey for me. I also quit nicotine and had my first child midway through the 30 days so I may not be the best test case.
If I could go back I would probably get into ketosis before getting in carnivore and make sure you dial in your electrolytes.

ive tried it. i ate eggs and beef, lots of butter and lots of olive oil. i buy my beef whole cow at a time and have two 12.5 cf chest freezers. snacks for me were leftover beef and more eggs
mental clarity was great, energy levels throughout the day were great and consistent
my crossfit workouts suffered. i did not have the easy energy for the high intensity cardio
weight dropped appx 6-9 pounds. it was noticeable in my face. it was more interesting to me than fun so i didnt gain much benefit from that
i could not sustain it strictly. i could not get over the carb cravings and would cheat periodically. i tried it for appx one year before incorporating more carb sources into my diet. i consume perhaps 1-2 cups rice/week (dry measurement). Part of me is curious to know if i could go back again with more mental strength, and no more crossfit, and see if i could sustain it better. but i doubt i try that life is good right now

I've done it with success in the past for a cut. Works great. Around week 2 diet becomes easy but I was definitely weaker and lethargic during workouts.

I am currently on it.
Staples:
-Ribeyes if ever on sale
-Boneless country ribs(Aldi)
-Ground beef
-Eggs
-Bacon
-Wings(I smoke them)
-Skirt steak(Aldi)
-Picanha steak
-Cheese

Any animal but some folks respond best to beef if they are doing it to help clear up a health issue. Some include cheese, some not. Generally, you dont feel need to snack on this diet. Most do 1-2 big meals and are never super hungry

I dont really notice much of a difference. I do calisthenics workout everyday and play tennis pretty often. Zero problems

Most hunger goes away. Sugar makes me want to eat more. You will also have to prepare all your food...sometimes gotta do this the night before. I am legitimately "shredded" probably 8-9% body fat. Thats very easy to maintain.
*Starting the diet is a major challenge. Cravings, the runs, trouble sleeping, cramps(you need salt) last for over a month...but then it gets significantly easier. Eating out sucks as well

Several high level athletes do “animal based” and will do glucose of quick carbs during exercise. Theory is you are using that energy immediately so it doesn’t affect the benefits of carnivore.

Real Beef Jerky, not the Jacks crap.
Look at the label and make sure it doesn’t have sugar.

I did it for 2 weeks, it was harder psych wise because I didn’t want meat anymore, made me not want to eat at all because that’s all I could eat. I might try it again though now that I know what to expect.

I’ve been on it for 3 years. Only time I go off it is on the holidays(Christmas Eve/ Day, NYE/D,
Thanksgiving, Halloween, Easter and July 4th)
I also only eat once a day also.
Ribeyes …. Really any red meat
Eggs
Calf Liver
Butter
Bacon grease
The above is what I eat most but any meat is fair game and pork rinds and pepperoni sometimes.
I also take supplements:
ZMA
Aggressive Strength Test Booster
Aggressive Strength Estrogen Control
Twist DHEA Cream
Vitamin D3
Melatonin
My strength and cardio are the best they ever have been with this diet and the Anti-glycolytic training I do.
You will see your abs and your strength will go up.
The only thing I can say is you want to get more salt or electrolytes… so you don’t get headaches and feel bad.
Every morning I drink a water bottle with a 1/2 TS of real salt brand salt added to it.
There is a adjustment period but it’s worth it.
Edit to add: I take creatine supplement also.

First week or two is hell while your body adjusts. After that it isn't an issue. I work out five/six days a week, go for walks at least twice a week of two miles, and am pretty active at work on top of that.

Frustrating update:
Been on it for about a week now. Been eating hard boiled eggs, bacon, chomps sticks, ham, burger patties.
Also working out and hitting at least 10k steps a day.
I gained a small amount of weight in the last couple of days. Am I overeating or doing something wrong?
Does it take a little time to start seeing the scale move in the right direction?
Any additional tips/advice is appreciated.
Also, I’m a natural runner but have kind of gotten burnt out on it so I’ve been walking an hour outside daily then finishing my workouts with a mile long brisk jog.

Sometimes, yes

My best advice is to cut out the eggs, ham and chomp sticks for a while. Eat just burger patties and salt (at least temporarily) until you really get the ball rolling. There is nothing magical about ground beef BUT if you need to rewire your brain from "eat for pleasure" to "eat for sustenance" The fact that just a week in you have so much variation means you are still eating for taste. You will find it very hard to overeat bland, salted burger patties.
You gotta make the decision, and I sincere when I say this. Does the pleasure of eating good food outweigh the weight goals you want? I have an inflammatory arthritis condition that carnivore eliminates, so that answer is not at all hard for me.
You can eventually start making the diet better for taste but 1 week in is not the time for that. The next 3-5 weeks are going to suck if you choose to continue. You are gonna feel a lot worse before you start feeling better, trust me. That said, getting past that point is amazing.

Absolutely stay the course! I feel so much better than I did even in my 20s. I played a long tennis match yesterday and had zero energy issues. Getting that ball rolling is not easy but the juice ultimately is worth the squeeze

Not enough time. Cut out the chomp sticks.
Its almost impossible to overeat on this diet. Believe me I have tried until I am pouring sweat from eating so much meat in one sitting. It didn't negatively impact me at all.

There is an angry little vegan downvoter every time a carnivore thread comes up.

I can't think of anything on here (maybe Ozempic) that triggers people like Carnivore

Cut out the snacks. Eat 4-6 eggs for breakfast, burger patties or steak for lunch and same for dinner.
I think it's easiest to only eat red meat and salt. I season with Redmond's real salt, and top with Maldon flaky salt and butter.
You'll start to crave salt and fatty meat. You'll dial in how much you need to eat and when. Go with the flow and listen to your body. If I need variety, I will have chicken thighs/legs or salmon but don't over do it, chicken doesn't have the same minerals as red meat.
If you're on social media follow carnivore ray. Kind of a goober but posts good content.

When it comes to salt, I grabbed one of those plastic containers of Kirkland pink salt from Costco. Is that good or should I only use Redmond real? I have also been putting it in water first thing in the morning.
