What I've read online (Reddit) and other places is that the side effects from Wegovy still appear to be minimal. Obviously, this is only an anecdote, and I'm sure others have different takes.

Got some family members that could benefit from this and trying to get good info. The GI issues are there but I'm not sure if it was dose dependant, common, uncommon, precondition, or what. They also saw some colon cancer stuff? If someone could point me to something to show them, I'd be very grateful.

Does Mounjaro have the same side effects as Wegovy with the GI problems and is it kind of overblown from ppl going to the highest dose too quickly?
Yes. But I have not been told much side effects when you stay at the lowest dose of 0.25 or 0.5. It’s when you get to the 0.75 and up that the GI side effects come up. And if you inject it into your leg, that helps prevent the side effects too.

if you work your way up on dosage and are mindful on what triggers the GI tract emptying, usually can avoid having the sides all the time.

I’ve been on Ozempic for a few months. Was able to get it covered because I have insulin resistance due to PCOS and I wanted to lose weight and improve my A1C.
Just now seeing a shortage here. And my insurance is now saying I have to have a prior authorization from my dr to be able to continue having it covered by insurance. From what I’m reading in my ozempic fb groups….. this is happening more. Many insurance will only cover now for type 2 diabetes.
They also said the same for Mounjaro(strictly only covered for diabetes). New prescriptions for Wegovy also will not be filled at this time due to shortage.
Ozempic was $25 a month with my insurance….Wegovy would have been $1600 a month without. Even though it is basically the same medication

Mine is $75/month supply max out of pocket, covered for weight loss. That's crazy and I would never pay $1,600/month.
I do have great insurance coverage and I pay a lot for it. I guess that's the upside.

Ozempic and Wegovy are the same drug so that is just nuts. Ozempic was going to be over $600 a month. Mounjaro is $25 for me a month.
I'm only on 5 mg a week and my A1C dropped from 7.8 to 5.6 almost immediately. Mind you I also fixed my diet and exercise when I started taking it so it was bound to go down regardless.
I've lost about 15 lbs over 12 weeks but that is on par with my kcal intake and energy expenditure. It has leveled off. But I didn't start taking it for weight loss. Turns out I have very low iodine levels that wreak havoc on your metabolism and insulin production. Just started supplementing and hope to be off the Mounjaro soon.

I'm on the lowest therapeutic dose (2.5 is a titration dose). My only side effect is slight constipation. I still crap every morning but I gotta work for it. Just the opposite of Ozempic and metformin.

Tried for diabetes and had to stop. Gave me massive stomach cramps, diarrhea, and burps that smelt worse than the explosive diarrhea.

I took my first 0.5 shot Sunday night. I did a month of 0.25. I’m having slight GI issues, but it just could be what I’m eating.
If I eat a lot of carb, I get horrible heart burn. I take Pepcid and it goes away. I’ve had some diarrhea this week, but I have IBS-C, so it’s kind of welcome.
This stuff really does work. I’ve dropped 19 lbs and I’m not even through my 5th week.

Just wish it would get FDA approved for weight lose so we can start really taking full advantage of its weight lose properties.
I work in the industry and the hope is that it will get a weight loss indication in 2023

Jesus. Then stop eating a lot of carb. FFS, your body is screaming at you to gain control.

Develop diabetes.
No one will pay for it for insulin resistance, impaired fasting glucose, or obesity. The coupon card has been changed because it became so popular so fast.
Your insurance company doesn’t care about preventing diabetes or maintaining a healthy weight, or really your healthcare at all if it doesn’t save them a dime, so they probably aren’t going to pick it up for those indications for several years, unfortunately.
Im on Ozempic. Not diabetic or pre-diabetic, insurance covers my scrip. Doctor was shocked.

Supply issues hitting you? I used to have no issue getting mine filled. Submitted request for a refill on my Walgreens app 2 weeks ago. Still has “in progress status”
