3 more CrossFit regionals athletes test positive for PEDs

Just my opinion here:
First of all, don’t take this as a knock on CrossFit as a workout regiment. I coached for 2 years and absolutely love the style of working out. The disconnect for me began when I started seeing athletes starting to surpass me, when I was lifting double their weights and dominating their times in just a couple months prior.
I started seeing a lot of PED abuse in the community. I really don’t care if people use, but I don’t think it’s fair to the other competitors who are buying into the ‘clean’ narrative that CF central likes to push. IMO they are selling their souls and abandoning everything CrossFit was supposed to stand for so they can sell Nanos, metcons, and get housewives to pay $200 a month for a membership that should cost $80. There’s this push within the community for ‘positive thinking’ and ‘doing things the right way’ and a lot of fake Christianity because people want to promote status and image. It’s become so yuppie and fake that it’s sick. But there’s an underlying culture of steroids and PEDs throughout the community.
I still have respect for some of those guys like Bridges, Fraser, Froning, Ben Smith, etc but I’d be willing to be that they’re all dirty. CF central seems to be turning a blind eye to the big names and slapping the no names with some suspensions to give the impression of transparency.

shite the Aussie Garard finished on the podium last summer and was taking SARMS. He came out of no where

I don't really ding athletes for using stuff. There's a lot of stuff that's legal that isn't natural. Even dietary manipulation isn't natural.
It's only hypocrisy about it that bothers me. I do think that's prevalent in Crossfit. If you're on something, that doesn't negate hard work, but it isn't cool to publicly proclaim clean if you don't follow through on it.

I've only been doing Crossfit for a year now, but I regularly work out at 3 different gyms, and I don't see any of what you are talking about here
Maybe the gyms I go to just aren't elite enough

The article says there are more than just the 3 but they haven't gone through the appeals process. I think there are some bigger names that use PEDs but Crossfit protects them. They don't want to have a big scandal like that when they are starting to really get a big following.

Idgaf.
For competition, as long as your test levels are within the normal range for your sex and age, I don't care if you're taking test.

It’s there, most people just keep their mouth shut about it.

I was more talking about the "fake christianity" and "yuppie" culture he was referencing

As I said in the OP, I really don’t care about use. What bothers me is when others are missing podium spots, or coming in 6th at regionals, or not making it past the open because the others aren’t clean.
It’s really not fair to the athletes who are doing shite the clean way. That’s the only problem I have with it. And I think the culture is hypocritical to preach ‘doing things right’ but is so willing to ignore a lot of the big names on PEDs.

I got ya. I definitely see that in my small town. I’m a member of crossfit and SNAP fitness.

Is it fair for some clean guy whose test output is in the 5th percentile to place lower than another clean guy whose test output is in the 80th percentile?

I don't like that top guys on stuff get held out as natural examples. It leads to a skewed belief of what's possible.
Stuff like body dysmorphia exists in part due to skewed ideas of what you can do without "supplements." Same thing with Hollywood stars and their body transformations for roles. It gets packaged as hard work. Then the average person tries the same workout and doesn't get those results. The omission of the substances they're actually using hurts the people trying to walk in their shoes.

Yes, that’s absolutely fair.
Some people are more naturally gifted at certain things due to their body types. Is it fair that NBA players get into the NBA because of their height or that NFL players naturally have great ‘fast twitch’ muscles? No, but that’s their genetic makeup.
Regardless, that’s not really a good argument because the guys using and competing at the highest levels aren’t doing so because their natural test output is low. They’re using to gain a competitive edge.

Never experienced this either. Then again I don’t pay attention to main site, HQ, or anything to do with regionals.
Go in, workout for an hour. Hang out with other normal people. Have fun. Go to gym functions. Have never said a prayer ever. Like any facet of my life there are people I get along with more than others.

When I was coaching, I’ve witness other members straight up ignore people coming in to try it out if they weren’t wearing the right shoes or lulu lemon.
It went way beyond just being passive, they were straight up rude and unwelcoming and I’ve watched those same people practically deepthroat new members if they came in wearing the right gear. There’s absolutely a status’ness of it all.
Got the old nanos or some regular Nike flats? You must be a poor piece of shite. Got the new ones? Welcome to our inner circle.
Like I said; I love the programming and I still implement a ton of CrossFit workouts into my programming today but I think the community overall would be better served without the hypocrisy and fake status.

I really wish they would either allow all competitors to use or require monthly drug tests of all competitors (starting with everyone who makes regionals). Basically, drug test them all year or allow everyone to use. I don’t like that many people use and some don’t, it’s not fair.
I have no problem with people using PEDs. I have done a sarm cycle in the past and I felt like an animal when lifting. I could lift more weight, for more reps, more often, with less recovery time. I don’t compete and did it for me. I’ll probably do it again, because being able to lift heavy that, that often made me happy. I had less bad gym days and seemed more motivated. I worked my arse off while on it, much more than I usually do, but that was partially due to recovering much more quickly. /endrant, let them use.

I didn't say they were.

That's why I love my garage gym. The owner thinks I'm awesome even if I come in wearing only my underoos.
