Any advice on a lifting routine and golf. I’m basically going to stop lifting between now and 4ball as the day after working out is terrible.

I workout 8 times a week mostly legs and back. Also run about 50 miles a week. I’m a +4.

Spend plenty of time stretching afterwards and you’re fine. No reason to stop if your are already playing.

Deadlifts and core exercise. Try doing some abs with a medicine ball

I try to get two full days rest. I skipped today because I am playing tomorrow. Really should have skipped Wednesday, but I liked the workout.

Do the yoga bro. It will help you become more flexible and be stronger in stretched positions. Also, you will feel better day to day.

I dont lift weights, I do walk most of the time I play and carry my clubs. I also go to the gym and swim laps 5 days a week. I always felt like if not careful lifting weights I would either sacrifice flexibility or get injured.

I've adopted this same philosophy this year. No more upper body strength training for me. The recovery is just too brutal. The tension and restriction it creates in my body has a negative impact on my swing. Its like I have to re-build my swing and get back in the groove (i.e. rhythm) again every single time a few days after I lift.

I lift weights 5 days a week. I can’t say that I’ve ever noticed a negative impact on my swing. As long as you stretch or have some time to get loose before the round you should be fine.

Same. I lift 4 days a week and as long as I am consistent with my sorkouts, my recovery isnt that long.

I'll normally take off the day before a round though. Golf is easier when you use your muscles.

ETA: Went and played today, and noticed that whatever I am doing for my legs is working. Added about 5-7 yards across the board and a few drives around the 300 yard mark (use to hit driver 250 on avg). My misses are still in the 250 range, but when I get after it and catch all of it, I've noticed increased distances. Deadlifts, squats, and the medicus seem to be working.

I stretch. I use a foam roller. Use sauna. I do it all. Maybe it’s my age, because I can never remember this being a problem for me ever. The only thing I can compare it to is shooting a basketball right after lifting. Airball. I have absolutely no feel. From the around greens to the full swing, nothing feels comfortable when I setup to the ball. And it shows because I become fidgety and don’t pull the damn trigger.

I lift a fork or spoon from time to time.

I try to stretch a good bit.

If you lift consistently, you shouldn’t have any issue. Most tour players stick to their routine on the road and will even lift before a round
