Skipping holes to jump ahead of a group when it’s packed.

Thoughts on this? I get it’s acceptable if the group in front won’t let you play through and there’s open space in front of them.

Dickheads today jumped us. It was a typical Memorial Day round with all holes packed. We were waiting on every tee shot and every approach. While on the green of a par 3, I watched this twosome skip the par 3, and go to the next hole. We finished, got to the tee box and they hadn’t even teed off yet because they had to wait on the group that was previously in front of us. They eyed us and I just said “you’re welcome!” Baw started toward us, then his buddy pulled him back into the cart and they drove off. It was all I could do not to drop one in on them in the fairway.

Breaking: dumbasses that have no idea what's going on play golf on holidays.

I do it regularly cause I’m usually playing solo. But I only jump if there’s no one in front of the group I’m behind. I wouldn’t jump people on a packed course. What would be the point?

I’ll jump around at my home course, but only when there is a clear opening. If that group is holding everything up and it’s wide open, I’ll jump them and move on.

On a packed course, there’s no point.

My 3-some got to the 2nd tee box (par 3) yesterday and found a 6-some on the green. I figured “no way”. Got to the 3rd tee box and “yep” - -All 6 out there in the fairway- - they went off as two 3-somes and tried to join up after they got past the starter.

I called the clubhouse and the marshals got all over that. They were actually appreciative because that would have backed the course up all day.

I don’t get some people

It never really makes any sense to me. I guess if you're playing a couple of times a week, you don't mind skipping a hole to get ahead of a slow group, but I never want to skip a hole. It's tough getting out of the house with 3 kids, I'm going to play as many holes as I can.

Also, if I was in your situation, I don't think I'd let those guys tee off before me. I'm not saying I'm some badass, but they basically played through you with your permission.

No way I let them tee off without saying something. Definitely would roll a ball or two up on them on future tee shots.

I’ve been told by a pro that Memorial Day is literally their busiest day of the year. What a couple of morons.

Two thoughts
1. Probably a group of 6 that wanted to play together and joined up, you’re kind of a dick for calling the pro shop and not talking to them first

2. I’d be interested in some data on whether a group of 6 plays slower than 2 groups of 3. Would they finish slower than the 2nd of the 2 groups? On a crowded day I’m guessing no

I rolled up today in a man eightsome. 5 adults and 3 kids under 5. It was pretty cute actually, and yeah we skipped them.

Clearly was a group of 6 that wanted to play together…. And yes, the industry has done these studies and a group of 6 slows the entire course down. Many course limit 5-somes to one per hour or none at all.

So, if I’m a kinda dick, I’m the kind that considers everyone’ enjoyment on the course and not just mine….I’m also the kinda of dick where people recognize a 6-some is not a thing in golf…, but you keep enjoying your $8 muni-tracs and igloo of Natty lites.

When it’s packed it makes no sense.

I jumped a group today that had just finished a 2 hour and 40 minute front nine and refused to let us play through; it was infuriating. We jumped to the 11th hole and we didn’t hit another group until 18. Playing as a twosome we finished the back nine in an hour and 20 minutes.

If it's a group of 6 that wants to play together (which is obviously is) then they should go somewhere that allows you to play 6. Why not just skip the step where he asks them to split up and they tell him to go frick himself and just let the pro shop handle it in the first place. That's what they do.

We skipped the back and went back to the front and played it again. Had three groups on number 10, par 5. It amazes me that clubs don't adhere to four or fivesomes on weekends between the first tee time till 3pm.

skipping ahead usually just screws things up even more. I never play slow and it is always some turds thinking it is my group and not looking ahead to see that we are in fact waiting on the one ahead of us and so on.

Course was moving really slow on Sunday. Groups in front of us were dropping off like flies. Finally caught up to the group that was holding everyone up. Dad and daughter or boyfriend and girlfriend, couldn't tell which. The girl would chip onto the green and the guy would hit the ball back to her so she could chip again. They did this probably 6 or 7 times while we were standing on the tee box. I get that some people play slower based on their skill level or number of people, but it really pisses me off when people are totally unaware of people playing around them.

IF the course is packed, then it makes no sense to jump groups.
Drop a few balls down and practice chipping. Make it a competition. Chip closest to the pine cone or whatever. Keep your head in the game.
