email by CEO Scott O’Neil today with the following updates:
“On the investor front, I remain encouraged by ongoing discussions with potential investors, and we continue to work diligently toward an investment that supports LIV 2.0. I don't have a major milestone to share today, but the process is moving with strong momentum, and we are laser-focused on reaching the finish line. These are complex discussions that take time. We need to move efficiently, but with just as much care and precision.”
“That said, we've also begun the work of planning responsibly for 2027. That means building a competitive calendar around our highest-priority markets, developing a more sustainable event and operating model, prioritizing the commercial opportunities with the greatest potential to drive long-term value, and continuing to deliver a premium experience for our players, partners, and fans. Leaders across the business are already at the table on this, and you'll see them pull your teams in as this work continues. We expect to share details more broadly by late August.
“In the meantime, let's continue to stay focused on delivering at Bedminster next week and planning for the Individual and Team Championships as we complete a successful 2026 season.”

Also not quite sure that being on Apple TV is any different than being on Fox and YouTube. Seems like less eyeballs….
Obviously if Apple is paying them a bunch for broadcasting rights on top of the investments then that’s different. But sounds like Apple would basically be doing the same thing Fox did and just throwing it on because they can do it for free and they want programming.

They will also almost certainly lose ranking points
So, to summarize:
Players will play for no guranteed money, no ranking points, and lower purses than the Pga tour
How is this a model than can be profitable or successful? That is a 100% honest question. Another honest question is why would Rahm , Hatton, Nieman do that? Bryson would likely do anything out of hubris at this point

The Alps Tour gets ranking points. A tour with Jon Rahm will get them

It probably won’t be

Because they may have to

quote:Liv had Rahm plus ties to the Asian tour(for open tour pseudo system) plus 14 events and it took that more that multiple years to get points
The Alps Tour gets ranking points. A tour with Jon Rahm will get them
We are now talking about cutting events, cutting players, and most importantly severing ties with the Asian tour and the open system
Don’t see how that gets points.
quote:Why? They can have all of the good with none of the bad on the DP tour at minimum. Without the big money there is no reason to chose liv over DP
Because they may have to

I don’t know much, but I do know being on the opposite side of MrLSU and Pirate King is usually a winning formula.
I’ll take my chances of saying this probably won’t be worth the hype from LIV accounts

Hey Pride where do you see the PGA tour in 5 yrs with all the changes coming in 2028?

In the same place it is now . Very successful for golf’s historical purposes but still a niche product in the grand scheme of things

If Pride is a “clown”, then what does that make you because he has been way more right about LIV/ PGA Tour matters than you have.

Some more news/info on this front from some of the pro LIV twitter sauces.
- LIV is expected to declare bankruptcy to get out of guaranteed contracts and restructure its overall debt.
- Funding isn’t actually fully agreed and is still being negotiated.
- PIF has to agree with any deal as they still own the league. That has not been secured.
-Players being asked to sign non-binding letters of intent that they will sign equity agreements in lieu of guaranteed payments. Some have signed but many have not, including notably Rahm who has not given any confirmation or signs that he will play on “LIV 2.0” next year.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Any player who agrees to this needs to be checked for CTE. What a clown see his. I think even Pirate and Mr.LSU will bow out now. Jim admitted defeat months ago
