Needs to be LSU-Notre Dame 1971 2.0 - That's what LSU football is all about...Big game big name opponent late kick...that's what make us different as Lane like to say!
Osteen - As the ex-husband of a TV news anchor/ news director in a Top 30 market I know more than you will ever know. The sponsors care about the attendance and without sponsors the whole enchilada falls apart. Ask the PGA tour about sponsors dropping out of the game.
I'll get the TV viewership numbers next month when the data is made public. Corporate sponsors and TV advertisers should be beholden to the stockholders for spending money on BS! Take Hermann Memorial running 2 National ads during the LSU/Houston ...yea that's really good for the moral of nurses and employed physicians ..kinda of like OLOL spending millions to get naming rights to Cajun Field in Lafayette...
The Case to reduce Present Bowl System
Posted by Poppy201 on 12/30/25 at 9:00 am
Thru 24 bowl games this year attendance is averaging a whopping 22,077 and that's with 64,000 and 41,000 at LSU/Houston and Penn State/Clemson.
Take those 2 games out of numbers it falls to 18,400. Now these numbers should make executives with ESPN/Disney cringe. How can a corporation afford to be a bowl sponsor with these types of numbers? The tv viewership has to be in line with these pitiful numbers except the 2 games mentioned above. Now the next 11 non-playoff bowls have decent matchups that may up the attendance numbers. A bowl system of 35 non-playoff bowls needs serious revamping. a bowl system of 10-12 with games taking place before Christmas so players and others associated with a football game i.e. the band can be sent home for Christmas avoiding unnecessary expenses to universities. My name is Jeff Landry and I approve this message....LOL Happy New Years!

re: LSU should cut a deal with the New Orleans bowl for
Posted by Poppy201 on 12/24/25 at 4:59 am to nicholastiger
In 2 years the current bowl system will be reduced to about 10 bowl games as the Professional Football Players masquerading as a college players will not want to play in an unnecessary game where they may get hurt.
re: Charlie McClendon coached his last game for LSU on this date in 1979
Posted by Poppy201 on 12/23/25 at 9:31 am to ElderTiger
I got to meet Coach McClendon in 1979 at New Iberia Senior High School. It was the day before National Signing Day and our star running back was the #1 recruit in La ...Johnny Hector! I had 5-6 period Coaches aid to our Head Coach and there were some big-name coaches in our gym camping out to visit one more time with Johnny before the big day....Tom Wilson head Coach at A&M along with R.C Slocum who was recruiting Johnny...Fred Ackers head Coach at Texas along with Recruiting coordinator Coach Williams ...Lucious Selmon from OU was also present which he had been for the better part of 6 months watching practices and games then flying out to Coach OU DL on Saturday's ...Charlie Peavy was there he was the OC at LSU ...Coach Peavy came into the Coaches office asking if there was a phone he could use for private call...I lead him to the HC office where he called Coach McClendon and told him to get to NI in a hurry that they didn't have Johnny Hector signed sealed and delivered the day before signing day (Johnny had signed a state letter of intent back in Nov. of '78). Coach Mac was at the gym in 1 hr....came in a State Troopers car...I'll never forget that Coach Williams asked to use a phone also, I led him to same phone in our HC office he made a call to Mrs. Browner (Ross and Joey's mother ) informing her that they would be in Atlanta by 6 for another visit at her home with Joey (he went to ND). Well Johnny signed with the Aggies 2 days after national signing day and after a prominent LSU backer made threatening phone calls to Hectors home (FBI traced the calls to a Dentist in Lafayette). Well, I got to meet Coach Cholly Mac and that was so cool for me as my family had and has had same LSU tickets since 1954! Man, today's recruiting is so F upped compared to the way it was in the 70-early 80's.
Best place to eat in the Marigny?

My nephew and his family are renting a home in the Marigny for 5 days. What recommendations do you have for lunch and dinner.
Thanks n Merry Christmas to all!

In La we came within 36hrs from getting a lot of HEB's! In 2014 Mr. Brookshire died and the heirs to the 200 stores...which included Super 1 foods in La...wanted to cash out! There was one heir who was active in the grocery business and didn't want to sell but he was having trouble getting financial backing to buy out the other heirs. They retained an investment banker to move the business...Albertson's and HEB made strong bids with the heirs voting on the HEB buyout terms...well 36 hrs before the closing the one heir Brad Brookshire secured financing that allowed him to buy out the other heirs . The other heirs got a comparable deal to HEB and the family grocery business survived. Hence La come very close to having a lot of HEB's. Now if only Donny Rouse would sell his La stores to HEB so he can go Marlin fishing full-time !

Follow Paul Prudhome's Dirty Rice recipe...Rice that's dirty and delicious!
The only better grocery store than HEB is Wegman's....every Wegmans is a Central Grocery! Having lived in McAllen, Tx and knew big Grapefruit and Orange growers they ranked Wegmans # 1 and HEB # 2 and the rest of the grocery stores in US were not in their league!
Kinda like going to circle K for coffee in Lafayette and avoiding the drive thru coffee shops on just about every corner. Buy Gulf Shrimp...like Kiffin says...it's just different and taste better!

Vegas Odds makers would make ND the favorite over BAMA, Miami and BYU in a head to head right now. That was reported by a ESPN reporter who deals with the betting side of football!

Babkin Alaskan Charters will give you the most memorable vacation you'll ever have. Small 60-foot vessel with 6 guests with great staterooms and great food. Tailor the trip to your wants and desires. They have been doing this for a long time, and they live on repeat customers. Check them out you'll thank me later. The success of this trip is predicated on the guests up to 6 of them being compatible in close quarters for 3-4 days. If so, then you're in for a treat!

For the PGA Tour it's a money thing! Corporate America is spending their money elsewhere!
I'm doing a deboned turkey in my sous vide. 5hrs at 145 degrees! Finish on the grill for 8 mins....Talk About Good!!!
42 million and let's move on! Bigger fish to fry!
It's going to go down like this guys:
Miguez or Fleming will beat Senator Cassidy in 2026
Senator John Kennedy will run for Gov. against Landry and wipe him off political map then appt. either Miguez or Fleming to his seat!
Jeff Landry's political aspirations go up in smoke in 2 years!

re: Sandbaggers suck arse

I'm sure if it was a blatant sandbagging job that clubs Member-guest committee would have done something about it! My guess is that his handicap is legit and he played well! If there was any significant money involved then I'm sure protest would have been very loud by other teams! Come down to McAllen Country Club where the Calcutta averages 125-150 thousand and see what we do to sandbaggers...
