Ours is 72.00/131 from the blues.

I’m not real knowledgeable of what this means other than a way to compare courses.

How does this rank with most ?

If it's par 72, it means a scratch golfer can expect to shoot par. 113 is supposed to be the mid point for slope for an average difficulty for a bogey golfer, but I don't think I've ever played a course with that low of a slope.

That’s a good test.

Our white tee is 72/138

113 is an average slope.

I think the slope is based on hazards, boundaries, and terrain.

They send someone out to evaluate the course and decide shot for shot how difficult it is.

Many neighborhood courses may have higher slopes bc of so many out of bounds stakes.

Is the par 72? How long are the blues that the rating is possibly +6.7?

ETA: I'm assuming you have a typo. Only greatwood I see in the grint is in Sugarland. The blues are 72 and 140

Not exactly. A scratch golfer can expect to shoot 72 if he’s playing well and shoots his handicap (which is the average of your best 8/20 rounds).

A scratch golfer would “average” about a 75 across the board.

If course rating is 72, then that is what a scratch golfer would need to shoot to keep his handicap the same. Slope is a bit harder to understand. Slope is supposed to calculate how hard a course is. To figure this out, you wouldn't base this on a scratch golfer because scratch golfers generally don't miss many fairways or greens, so the hazards aren't as much in play. Instead, they figure out what a hypothetical bogey golfer (I think they use a 20 handicap) would shoot then use a formula to determine how much harder the course gets the worse you are at golf and that figure is the slope. 131 is definitely a harder course. For reference, UClub from the member (gold) tees is 72.1/129

My local course is 71.5 and 121 slope, neighborhood course with plenty of water but not very long at 6600 from the blues.

For net events and recreational rounds, they probably should make all stakes red.

That’s more difficult when the OB is someone’s yard as you can play out of the hazard (red stake) if you find your ball. I guess you could make a local rule and say don’t play out of the yard and take a lateral.
